Morritt Farm Holidays, Kolar
Bethamangala Road, D. K. Halli Plantation, Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka 563115
I made this trip once my 5 year old son's vacation started in April, 2011. For someone who need a weekend break from bustling chaotic life in Bangalore or even Chennai, this is a great place to be in. This option best suits someone on a week end break and who wants to choose a place that’s neither too far or too close from Bangalore (both of which can dampen your excitement). I searched the net and found good reviews about the resort and decided to explore. The experience proved that there could not have been a better choice. About the resort:- The resort is located in a totally calm and serene environment. It has a fantastic play area for children, tennis, cricket nets, badminton courts and a swimming pool. The swimming pool is unique since it has a separate section for kids. The check in and out is flexible and you can talk to the manager your specific needs. There are a few banana plantations, a number of coconut and a few mango trees apart from a lot of flowering plants. Children’s play area is very nice and well maintained. While the grown-ups can play cricket in the nets or badminton or ride a bicycle, the best option I liked was relaxing in one of those tyres that are 'hung' from trees to make it look like a swing. There is also a small fountain in which children can play. Water in the pool is very clean. Food: Food was really awesome. It is very simple, but excellent and one can feel its truly home cooked, For those who expect exotic or expensive dishes this is not the place to be in. They have a rice/roti dhall/vegetables/salads/egg curry and a chicken dish. Breakfast was consisting of upma and idli with south Indian sambar and chutney. Evening there is tea and coffee served with sumptuous hot bajjis. Reach there: If you are not driving the best option would be to take an express train from Bangalore, alight at Bangarpet jn and take a KGF bound bus (which are aplenty) to 'alad mara ' or ' banyan tree'. The resort is just 1.5 km from Aladmara and you could hire an auto to the resort. You may even take a direct Bangalore - KGF bus and alight at the Aladmara stop. There are plenty of buses from Bangalore or Kolar. There cottages are really clean and spacious. They even have accommodation in caravans, dormitory and a family guest house. I made this trip in April, the hottest part of the year. But I was so surprised to experience the pleasant weather within the resort. It is much cooler than Bangalore. Staff members are polite and courteous. In short, this is truly a place where young and old, group of friends or colleagues can enjoy alike.
For a quick weekend getaway from Bangalore, I could not have chosen a better place. After the terrible roads in Bangalore, the roads were itself a pleasure to drive on. We found the farm easily after about 1 1/2 hours drive. Very Clean, peaceful place, excellent food. very courteous staff and to top it all, mY kids aged 8 and 5 had a gala time in the playarea. Looks like a lot of thought and effort has gone into setting that up. The farm had a bullock cart ride and a jeep ride to show us around the place. A perfect weekend, very refreshing and relaxing.
We did not find any difficulties in finding the farm house. Everything was perfect, great and it was a lovely experience. The room was spacious, neat, clean and well maintained. There was no TV, and AC was not required, rest all was fine. The farm was normal looking place. There was no gym, spa etc, but they had good lawn, swimming pool, disco lights and a separate place where you can put tent for functions. The food served was pretty much good. They also take your preference while preparing the food. It was an excellent place. It was worth for its money. I would recommend this hotel to everybody.
Stay was awesome between the farm. You will have a relaxed stay. You can order of your choice. Food was very good. Swimming pool was very clean. Service was good. Children play area is available. Family recommendable. Secured stay. They provide cart ride to their farm. Big space of parking.
I am writing this review on my personal experience on 3-4 Sep 2016. The first word I would like to use is " Horrible " and the 2nd one comes to my mind is " terrible ". 1. When check in... Found there is no water in the taps... Requested to staff ( which looks more line near by villagers rather a professional staff and it came after 30 min. 2. The Food was horrible :... Roti, were like rubber... Becomes hard within 2 min after you put it in your plate. No taste. No hygiene maintained. 3. At night 11 pm my son asked that he want to go to get fresh. But surprise there were again no water in the tap. Thought of contacting staff and found out there is no intercom phone. Then came out of cottage... And look for staff.. As there were no dedicated office space... Didn't find anyone... Finally used Bisleri drinking water ;-) ;-(... I was lucky that I had a 5 ltr can with me. 4. There were few dogs in the premises who were barking over the night. Can't sleep well. 5. Room were clean... But not the toilet... Seems they have just got renovated the property... So all taps were leaking. The shower were also removed 6. Next day there no light from 5 am... And no water as well. Asked many time to staff were they were helpless... Finally 9 am one bucket of water were provided. If some one has to get fresh... Nothing can be done. Or go outside in the jungle. Over all... For a price 3900/- + Taxes... Its a big No... No.. Bachelor's groups may enjoy but a very big NO for families with toddlers... Even no complimentary water bottle there in the rooms. For name sake they provide breakfast + Lunch + Dinner inclusive in room charges. But really that were of waste tasteless food seem the reviews written on Makemytrip and other portals... And written by their guys only... I couldn't dare to pay > 1000/- per night for such a facility. They arranged one bullock cart ride for 30 min... Which were really the only plus point... But still at the price of 4500/-... That is nothing special for guest
