Mountain Club Resort, Munnar
The single bed cottages are beautiful, done up like a duplex with personal balcony. The living room is very spacious giving able place for kids to play, dine and make tea/ coffee. Well maintained property. Room service is prompt and perfect. Only miss, is this resort lacks view like the way club Mahindra resort has.
We always change the resorts or hotels when we stay in Munnar because each one will give diverse ambiance. We have stayed in most of the good resorts located in Chinnakanal, Munnar but I have to say that "Mountain Club" gave us an astounding feel. Right from the entrance we could feel the difference, the reception staff welcomed us with utmost courtesy and within few minutes completed the check-in formalities and the bellboys guided us to our cottage. Since we were tired we decided not to go for sightseeing and after taking rest for an hour we went outside the cottage just to see the surroundings. The property itself is worth spending a day just walking up and down the path way from the entrance, the unpolluted air and the cool breeze and the view from the resort is startling. We could see other guests too relaxing here and there and since it started drizzling we went back to our cottage. The Cottage has a living room on the upper level and two attached bedrooms one in the basement and one in the upper level. Well furnished and maintained rooms with facilities like television, dining table and chairs, coffee/tea maker, mini bar, intercom, etc. Bathrooms with toilet kits, a balcony from where we could enjoy the beauty of the valley and above all both the interior & exterior décor and construction of the cottage with rocks gave us a feel that we were staying in an old well maintained colonial building. The variety of cuisines served in the restaurant were really tasty, though only few seafood items were included in the menu, the overall dining was great. The resort has a swimming pool and ayurvedic centre and regarding the staff, I have to say that they are really professionals. They are so dedicated to guide and serve us and for me a vacation in a resort or hotel will be more pleasant and memorable when I get such warmth from the staff.
It was located far away from the city. I visited for business purpose in May. Appearance wise, it was huge property. It was very well-kept. They have lots of cottages there. Staff was very cooperative and helpful. Even the manager was a very good person. I already referred it to many persons. Staff was quickly responding to our requests. Room was neat, clean and very well-maintained. Everything was properly maintained in the room like bed sheets, pillows, etc. They maintained the property in a very professional manner. Tea maker, geyser, TV, or everything was there in the room and all of them were functioning properly. View was not visible from the room but from outside there was a very beautiful view. Buffet was there and food was very good there. Many restaurants were nearby so most of the clients have food there. Both veg and non-veg food was available there. Breakfast was included in the package. Quality and taste of the food was very good. Cost was reasonable. It is value for money. No delay in check-in and check-out. Everything was reasonably managed. Swimming pool was also very well-maintained and it is very beautiful nearby dining area. Overall, I was happy with the resort. They should maintain the same quality of the resort. Munnar as a destination is very good. Hotel's location was good. Appearance wise, it was very good. Staff was also very good there. Room was very good. Food and drink was also very good. Activity part was very good.
Mountain Club resort is an offbeat property way outside the town of Munnar. However, the road from Munnar town to this resort makes up for the long drive which one has to take to reach this resort. There are many scenic tea gardens on the way and as you move towards this resort from Munnar side, your adrenaline starts increasing with the increase in height of the mountains. However, after reaching a very high point, you start descending in to a valley and all your adrenaline rush goes for a toss. On the way, you will come across all the resorts like Club Mahindra, Fort Munnar etc which you would have come across while booking this resort and then you start wondering as to why did you book this resort leaving aside all others which has much more beautiful locations. However, upon entering the report, you start again ascending and a feel good factor starts returning and by the time you reach the reception, you are again on a hillock. The resort has huts type structures spread over some 2-3 acres space and there is a vehicle to take you inside the resort in case your legs are not giving you a company. It had a nice swimming pool which was non-operational during our stay and I suspect that out of order for two days sign may be permanently placed. It had a nice restaurant but the serving staff had a frown on their faces while serving. They should learn to smile a bit. The activity center was good but why the heck charge the guests even for playing games in the center when you already have fleeced the customer under the name of room rent. There are no places of interest or eating places/ shopping places to cover near by and you should book this property if you are interested only to stay indoors or have your personnel transport to move around.
As our group of 6 people planned in the month of May for south tour Karela also at Munnar. In munnar we get the Hotel Mountain Club very good hotel. Each and every facility in hotel was good. Even they provide their kitchen for use to cook our meal dal bati, one time we enjoyed I cooked dal bati with our group in the hotel kitchen. Very cooperative staff and all.
Mountain Club, as the name suggests is on higher altitude than other hotels in Munnar so that it gives him an advantage over the mystical view. The resort has a huge premises and different styles of cottages. My personal favourites are Duplex cottages because they are higher than other and have a beautiful view from their balconies. Coming to the food, this place has an excellent breakfast and desserts are also quiet yummy. The cottages are clean, neat and spacious. Resort itself has some good amenities including gym and indoor games.
