Mudumalai food, sight-seeing and shopping options
The tours offered by the forest department in small mini buses are quite recommended. We got to see tuskers, chital, mongoose, peafowls. The crowds in the bus tend to get noisy and forget that one will get to see the animals only if there is complete silence.

Hotel Review of Jungle Retreat
Comments: My wife and I visited this resort recently (17th - 19th May'08) and had an excellent experience. We loved the stay and got a chance to relax completely and get away from the stress of living in a mad city like Bangalore.
Best Experience: The location is amazing. We sat out on the deck chairs and enjoyed the sight of the mountains looming up before us. We spend hours, by the pool, enjoying the sun-set and hearing the birds chirping all around us.
Worst Experience: None really!

It was lovely weekend break from the hectic Bangalore life. An easy 2 and half hour drive to Mysore - roads were good and easy to drive on; and then another 2 hours drive to Masinagudi - a bad patch of around 10 km from Gundalpet onwards. But don't let that deter you from taking this holiday. The resort was easy to locate with multiple sign boards all over the place. For those who don't have a car, you can...

Hotel Review of Jungle Retreat
We stayed in Jungle Retreat from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29. We had payed advance to stay till Dec. 30th. We were two families, a total of 8 adults. On 29th, we were on a hike arranged by the resort, with the resort hired guide. We came back after 8 hours hike to find all our things misplaced. They had entered the room when we were away and moved our things, shuffled our beds and moved some of the extra...

Hotel Review of Jungle Retreat
Its location is away from all city noises and real jungle atmosphere prevails. The place is good and people are very friendly and informal. Mr Daniel the organiser for jungle visits, his brother who took us on the drive and the trek guide Babu were all very good and experienced. The ambience is very good....

Hotel Review of Jungle Retreat
We decided to spend two days here after eading some fabulous reviews!, but were really disappointed . One does not want 5 star comforts , but the place was shabby , frayed upholstry , dusty counters and the whole dining recreational area reeking of cheap phenyl and dogs. Throoms were done upwith as little taste , the only saving grace were clean towels and enough hot water in the bathrooms . the matttress and...

Nice place to stay. Run by a family who are trying to make a difference. Very nicely built over a campus that was once a farmland, now lush green with plantation. The decor melts nicely with the surrounding. Very nice food - mostly fusion of Tamil and continental....

Hotel Review of Jungle Retreat
The Jungle Retreat is a great weekend getaway for those living in and around Bangalore. The location, at the foot of the Nilgiris, is breathtaking - you can see the grand hills looming in front of you as you lounge about during the day, and a carpet of stars at night - the perfect ground to test your knowledge of constellations. The cottages are warm and comfortable, and are spaced sufficiently apart from each other to provide privacy. Dont be...
