Mukteshwar food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Honestly, nothing much to choose from. you will get confined to your resort and enjoy the food over there. that's the beauty.
For Shopping, 1 km after Krishna Orchid Resort (where i stayed in) and 3 kms before Mukteshwar, there is a small Yellow building housing Kumaun handicrafts and herbs. It is run by an NGO called Chirag. Little Expensive but you may try few ood things like the natural appricot mash and oil.

Comments: did not accept credit card at the time of booking and checkout for flimsy reasons, causing anxiety and hardship in getting the requisite cash ready. So carry adequate cash particularly if you visit them off-season. Apart from this one issue, it was a great experience for us adults and kids alike. Very warm and hospitable staff, very accomodating, excellent home-cooked food, and great location with a 180 degrees view of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges, and large forest cover for a forest walk or even a trek. Very convenient from here to reach other Uttaranchal places like Ranikhet, Almora, Kausani, Binsar, Jageshwar temples and some great glaciers/trekking routes slightly further up north. A must-do destination at least once ! Well I must also mention that the staff at the resort did promise me that next time they will not disappoint me and accept credit card for payment - so I am going to test it out soon !
Best Experience: Service staff were exemplary - great food, great service and very importantly, they waited for us to return late at night and served us fresh and piping hot food, much beyond their normal duty hours. And guess what - they did that with a lot of warmth and smiles !
Worst Experience: Only the problem we faced due to non-acceptance of credit cards for booking in Delhi as well as during checkout at the resort - had to scramble both times to find an ATM and get cash out ! They should make it easier for travellers !

for all the fun ,,,with out intending any pun you must get out from the resort,, surly but do not run, out there in the wilderness, celestial bodies join hands with mountains, and lay out for u a sight rare in all the lands but remember for sure the trees,, the meadows are all for you, to enjoy laying any plastic behind,, and leave the place as pristine as new...

neat cozy place tucked away in a quiet part of the kumaon region.... unspoilt by the typical tourist. The resort was nice and homely, although it seemed as if needed a bit of spring cleaning. But very courtesous staff, and glorious views of the Himalayas more than make up for small inconveniences. the owners seem very caring towards the environment, place is quite eco friendly. Go there if u love nature in all its glory..... highly recommended for its peace and...
