Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, is located in the Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats. Standing at an altitude of 1,930 m above sea level, it is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. Tourists can relax at this site that maintains a temperature range of 20 0Celsius to 25 0Celsius. The mountain range features grasslands, rugged rocks along the trek path and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on its peak.

The trek route begins from Sarpadaari, which is connected with Chikmagalur by road. Located in the Baba Budan Giri range of the Western Ghats, the mountain peak is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris after Chembra, Banaura and Vellari Mala peaks located in Kerala.

For adventure enthusiasts, the location offers an opportunity to engage in activities like mountain biking, trekking and road biking.

"Highest peak in Karnataka" new review

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted 3 weeks ago
Must see if you visit Chickmagalur. With 6400 feet high, this is the highest peak in Karnataka. The scenery changes every second on the peak. Cannot appreciate much if it is cloudy. Need to be patient for the clouds to clear to have the top of the world feeling. It has approximately 300 steps to reach the peak and there is a Shiva Temple on the top.

A really nice place to visit especially during November, December and January. A place for really good coffee. Well the hills are lush green and has gentle slopes which adds to its beauty. Must visit for a road trip from Bangalore as the road is really great for cruisers as well as speedsters.

Lovely view, good option to view the whole sight. Good for photography, everything is easily available. Chilled weather with heavy flowing air, ideal for youngsters. Climbing is slightly difficult for the aged people.

"Good place to visit, not so good for trekking"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
We(7 people) went to Mullayanagiri to start trek to Bababudangiri. But since its first time, we struggled finding a base(sarpadhari) to start trekking. Looked like place is sealed. Then, we started from Seethala Nagare, its 3 km from there to reach top, road to reach top is dangerous and slippery. Worth going there but not for camping. We get caught by forest officers and get back to base because camping is not allowed. And also they advised not to go for Bababudangiri trek since it's banned because of wild life ( Tiger ).

"Beautiful place with a temple at the top of the peak"

The visit to the peak was awesome. Picturesque is superb. You will get lot of cool wind passing by. Roads are very steep. Recommend professional driver to drive car. If you are not experienced please hire cab. As I saw many such cases where there is traffic congestion mainly because of this.

"A place to remember"

  • 6.0/7

Probably the best in Chikmangalur. We planned to go here in the month of September. Got to say wise decision, just the time of the year when monsoon gets over and chillness in the air made the travel enjoyable.

The area was mostly covered by mist and when it clears for sometime the beauty of this place will make you freeze for minutes. Lush green landscape, birds eye view of the town and the hill temple at the top are major attractions. This Picturesque place will be a treat for the photographers.

Total paisa-vasool. Loved it. Beginners can trek to this peak and enjoy the natural view it offers. There's a Shiv Mandir and then while coming down you get Tea and Pakoda. Best thing that I liked, in that chilly weather you find Tea and Pakoda to enjoy in a surrounding that's breathtaking.

"Temple with beauty of nature"

  • 6.0/7

This place gives you a spectacular view of the Western Ghats. The drive to this place can be challenging, because of the narrow roads and hairpin bends, and heavy traffic from both sides. It's best to drive between 6 and 7 AM or a little early if you want to catch a spectacular view of the sun rise.
