Munnar food, sight-seeing and shopping options
There is 'hotel saravanabavan' for very hygienic and tasty food.it was very cheap too. There are a lot of tea gardens.Avery splendorous view of tea plantations and it was very exciting too . its view was like shells of tortoises from the top angle.

Hotel Review of Deshadan Mountain Resort
Comments: Deshadan expereince-to sum it up we had the expereince of watching a southindian masala movie with many twists and turns literally. We drove to Munnar from Madurai via Bodimettu-every funloving person we enquired on the way assured the route was terrific!Indeed it turned out to be.To start with there was nothing called as anything definable as road-there were only patches of Tar and funnily this road narrows down further with every one of 17 hair pin bends and especially when a loaded lorry come from the opposite side, with stones ,sluch and little bit of grass on the left...taking to the left edge which incidentally has no protective barricades and letting the unhappy lorry guy pass you in an inch gap-he was un happy because he probably expected me to take vartical plunge and clear the road for him totally! This drive lasts an hour for about 20 odd kilometers. On top after reaching Bodimettu(mettu means peak in Tamil and Malayalam also I guess)the road was quiet broad,it was cool and lovely..Thank GOD the misery is over...start driving...we were engulfed in thick fog with visibility of barely 20 meters...and again you drive for another 2 hours you reach Munnar..phew...adventurous..not to sure whether It was relaxing as I was driving!

Then you further proceed towards Cochin and take a left turn after a forst check post...you reach a signage DESHADAN 1 km...WOW we are there...well not yet..This 1KM strecth is almost at 40 degrees gradient with 4 hairpin bends which are all of 8 feet breadth....The visitor will be greeted on entering this diversion .... with a signage ONLY 1ST GEAR!

But once you reach there the rooms are quict breadthtaking with decent balconies offering a 60 km valley view-Ofcourse we got to see only 60 kms cloud view!

The place Munnar is quiet beautiful reasonably unspoilt and offers a fantastic array of palces to see.Look to have a good network of roads as well :-)

Saving grace is the people are very friendly and the rooms and the toilets are sparkingly clean! The food also was OK.

For the weak hearted-pl take Cumbum mettu route to Munnar from Madurai.

The coup de grace was delivered when I shared the experience with one driver who is partcularly expereinced in the terrain who said"Why did you come that route sir?It is quiet dangerous, even I dont drive through this route!!!!!"
Best Experience: Joseph at the office was very helpful and was there for every assistance and the staff were particularly hospitable
Worst Experience: Nothing specific except the drive
