Nathdwara is a city of Rajsamand District, located amidst the Aravali Hills, on the banks of Banas River. The name of this city means 'gateway to Lord Nath'. This city is famous for temple of Lord Shrinathji, which is dedicated to Lord Krishna and was built in the 17th century. This temple also comprises an idol of Lord Krishna as an infant, which has been carved out of a large black stone and belongs to the 12th century. It is also known for its Pichhwai paintings portraying Lord Shrinathji along with several ivory articles and local sweets. The popular festivals celebrated at this temple include Janmashtmi, Holi and Diwali.
