Nehru Zoological Park is situated in Bahadurpur area, which is about 16 km from the city of Hyderabad. The park was established in 1959 and it was opened in 1963. It was named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Nehru Zoological Park covers about 300 acres of land and is inhabited by more than 1500 species of wildlife. The zoo is home to species like Asiatic lion, royal Bengal tiger and white tiger, black panther, rhinoceros, crocodile, American bison, chinkara, orangutan, etc. Reptilian species like Indian cobra, giant tortoises, star tortoises, water turtles, Russell's viper, giant rock- python, etc. can also be found here.
Some other attractions of Nehru Zoological Park are Dinosaur Park, Natural history Museum and Children’s Train. It also offers elephant rides and safari trips like lion safari, tiger safari, black beers safari, etc. on daily basis.
