Nehru Zoological Park

Spread over 300 acres of lush greenland, the Nehru Zoological Park is home to a breathtaking selection of nearly 1,500 species of birds, animals and reptiles.

Sit on a park bench and watch the Primates monkey around in their natural habitat. Feel one with nature as you watch the estuarine crocodile and Giant /Star tortoise slide into cool open pools. Get awed as magnificent beasts like the Elephant, Rhinos, Hippos and American Bison stomp through their simulated jungle home. Enjoy the sight of gentle herbivores nibbling at their leafy snack while the carnivores tear through their meal.

Make sure that you schedule your time well in order to catch the different safari trips every day, like the Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari, and Butterfly Safari which are an absolute treat. Watch rare species of Lions, Tigers and Panthers stalk through their almost natural forest habitat. For those who seek adventure and excitement, set your teeth on edge by taking the jeep safari in the Lion Park, which is one of its kind in Asia. Nothing can get your adrenalin on a high than watching the Big Cats feasting on their prey a short distance from you!

Perch yourself atop a giant pachyderm and take an elephant ride through the zoo. Take a trip round the Nocturnal Birds Park which houses rare and exotic species of nocturnal birds and animals. Learn about prehistoric creatures by watching computerized dummies of dinosaurs and other pre historic creatures in the Natural History museum.

Open a picnic hamper and enjoy being one among the flora and fauna but make sure you dont feed your four legged friends. Wrap up your day at the Zoo with an abridged ride in the quaint children?s train and savor the joy of a day well spent.
