I stayed at the Hotel Nest at Shankarpur for two days with my husband. Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed so far. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager and they have given us one of the best room this hotel has. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The beach attendant named as Bacchu deserves a special thanks for his hospitality and guidance. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. Overall experience was awesome. I'll recommend this hotel to every couple and families.
The hotel was located outside the city. There were activities arranged by this hotel. The room was clean. All amenities were working well. The food was very good with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes served. Check in and checkout was done on time. I had visited this hotel for official trip with my family.
I had a 4 nights stay for a LICI training program. The hotel itself is good. Rooms are well appointed. The manager a Mr Abhijit Ghosal is the worst ill mannerd manager I've ever come across in my 30yrs of travel experience. He is very rude & arrogant. Never answers any questions straight. Better avoid the hotel just because of him. Anyways there isn't anything worthwhile to see in Shankarpur.
we stayed for two nights during the puja holidays with our 18months old son. The coordination between Hotel's Shankarpur Staff and Kolkata Staff needs to be better as they have messed up our request for a garden view room. Do make sure when you visit about the allocation of room and insist on a garden facing room. Food was actually the best part of the Hotel, a Hilsa buffet....just imagine for a foodie. Overall quality of food was good, but the staffs needs to be better trained. They are not rude, but have to be made efficient. The authorities need to work on the overall operations, as the front desk switches off the lift during the evenings to save power, but there can be other energy saving initiatives. They need to work on the essentials and non-essential energy consumption. plus since they have a near private beach, extra care should be taken about its well being...cleanliness is a concern..the beach is littered. One small environment friendly suggestion, they should use solar water heating systems and other lighting needs should be sourced from solar sources, would save money on bills, and also would not require the lift to be switched off in the evenings.
The experience was mix and match tends more towards negative. Shankarpur Beach is not vast and open like Old Digha or Tajpur beach. The beach has entry fee unlike any other beach in that section. Hotel is about a 1.5 kms away from the beach but they have shuttle service for guests. Nest's private beach is just a hype this is most busy section of the beach being the entry point. They beach has provision to either have food from hotel or from local shacks. Receptionists and few waiters are like local party hooligans who are extremely rude with guests and heard so many guests end-up with verbal fight with them. On top of that they have age old hand written bills. Please ensure to double check the final amount. In restaurant on asking ice cubes they have give us huge block of ice they use to preserve fish. Bottom line is if you have option to skip this location they will recommend Old Digha and Tajpur. Pros: 1. Room is warm in cold night. 2. Lawn is clean and well maintained 3. One has provision to have food in lawn and terrace apart from restaurant. 4. 24 hours instant hot water. 5. Excellent fireworks on the New Year eve. 6. No beach entry fee if you are using hotel's shuttle service. 7. Effective shuttle service to beach round the clock. Cons: 1. Very rude receptionist and extremely slow process on check-in and check-out. 2. Non Ac Economy Double bed room is small like match box. 3. Bad sleep quality due to the rock hard bed. 4. Housekeeping not done in 4 days. 5. Have insects inside room sue to no cleaning for ages. Pillow, comforter or sofas have nasty smell. 6. Shower doesn't have hot water provision. 7. Restaurant service is terrible, food is served ice cold in case of room service. 8. Very cheap mentality to charge guests for ice cubes in bar. 9. Private beach is not private at all, just a hype. 10. High tax is charged if food is ordered for terrace or lawn. Room Tip: Room no. 101 and 103 have adjacent terrace which is semi-private for evening gathering with family
Excellent Room, service, ambiance..Lawn is very good. Full of play things for children. Children entertainment is also planned very well. Foods are very much tasty and presentation is superb. Room service is tremendous good.Hotel and rooms are very clean and rooms are very large in size and airy.Overall it's awesome

Very big and nice looking hotel beside sea beach. Room are very neat and clean. All facilities like AC , Car parking , resturant are available here . Pick up car from bus stand and from sea area is available. It attract us very much. Children's park is very nice there . There is also hand boating arrangement in their own area. Altogether it is very good experience .
The Hotel Nest is a fabulous retreat at Shankarpur, a sleeping town on the coast of Bay of Bengal at a nominal distance from the much famed tourist spot Digha in East Midnapore district of West Bengal. The property has a serene backdrop with a picturesque Garden in front, a well-equiped children's park, with an embankment separating the resort from its boating complex. The Sea-mermaid Restaurant and the Sand Bar is highly acclaimed for the scrumptuous culinary delights and a wide range of liqour and beverages they can serve to entertain their guests. Our overall experience for the two nights we spent at Hotel Nest was in one word magnificent. The hotel stay was extremely comfortable and the food was extraordinarily delicious. The ambience was exceptional and the services in the facility were fabulous. An easy access to the sea , regular transport facilities being provided by the hotel to travel to and from the sea-shore and the comfort provided to the guests at the private beach owned by the hotel was an added bonus !
starting with the journey..the place is very isolated n going there with public buses is a pain and tiring..on reaching shankarpur to get to the hotel we took a motor cycle it was a new experience though..the hotel outer appearence only was so bright n beautiful..the hotel colour n garden n corriddors well maintained...im a lil dissapointed with the lack of taste with the room colour.. the room wall paint of the hotel is the colours were not blending at all ayways but the rooms are cheap and very spacious and well maintained..though the place is really isolated but the hotel provides awesome services n activities that the stay is actually a pleasant one...providing a gym , a boating area, cycles to ride on the beach is actually really thoughtful and fun....overall i had fun..from day one till the last day...
One of excellent vacations and stays which myself and my family had while we spend in the Nest Hotel of Shankarpur recently. Apart from the little distance from the sea beach ( which is also taken care by the hotel by providing free pick up and drop facility!!), we never had any complaint during our 3 day stay in the Nest Hotel. Food, Ambience
I have been to the Nest at least five times, my fifth visit was this 20th May 2010. I gone with my two sons, my aged mother and some friends for a short weekend break. The break in itself proved to be true as we did get some respite from the scorching sun thanks to \'LAILA\', so a little rain and overcast skies and cool sea breeze were welcome elements. The beach we found had changed due to last year\'s \'AILA\' as the shack had been destroyed and boulders (the ones you get in Digha) were found lining quite a distance of the beach. The kids found it pretty dangerous to get down to the beach as the boulders were slippery - later sand bags were placed on top of the rocks leading down into the sandy beach. My mother was unable to get to the water for fear of slipping. The hotel service has turned \'LOUSY \' House keeping is terrible and the Manager at the reception needs a course in Customer Service. Not to mention him scolding the kids while they were playing. When kids are on holiday they don\'t expect to be told to be quiet, especially when they are boys at that. I am really apalled at the way this hotel has fallen in class and quality as we have seen it before the new wing was set up. I guess since this has become a popular hotel now they feel that can get away with anything. They behave as if people are staying free of cost. I am so sorry for having praised their service in the past. I do hope someone from the Nest sees my review and tries to make some changes.
Been to Shankarpur several times over years. Stayed at Hotel Nest many times, last in July., 2013 and October, 2013. Shankarpur is just about 3/4 hours drive from Kolkata, a quiet place with good beach. Nest is a wonderful place to stay, particularly enjoyed by the kids. The ambience is excellent, with spacious open terrace, beautifully maintained park and gardens, rooms are also good. Food is very good, staff courteous and helpful. Only location is far from the sea, but their continuous car service to the beach is very helpful. The private beach is being renovated, which is very good. We shall definitely visit again.
