New Digha Overview

Ranked 3 of 12 sightseeing in Digha

New Digha is an extension of the older part of Digha and has many hotels and other accommodation facilities that make it a hotspot among tourists. Apart from the beach, a very new addition to the list of attractions is the Science Centre that was founded by the National Council of Science Museums.

The science centre helps to enjoy as well as learn some science. The centre also has a park that represents the Jurassic Age. Besides, Digha also hosts one of the biggest Marine Aquariums in India, just opposite the Digha Hospital. A park with the Amravati Lake offers opportunities for boating. Deepak Mitra’s Snake Farm is located very near the lake.

Very Dirty & Crowded Beach

The Beach is full of used plastic carry packets. Human and doggie's waste are frequently seen. Boulders are lying unevenly. will have to get down to the beach very carefully else one will slip and fall.

Quite nice but need betterment ..

Not overtly good but a nice place to spend a few hours.. It has added a few changes to it's feather and certain betterments have been done.. Though the cleanliness has become better than before, the crowd is still the same and the place is very congested.. The sea is beautiful enough and very quiet... Overall quite a nice atmosphere..

Huge Crowd on Beach

This beach full of crowd. More or less there is no place to relax. Also you have to have luck to take bath on the beach. You have to pay huge price to buy anythings. Please do not carry huge money with you./ Thus place is not good for that

Probably the most visited sea beach in West Bengal, Digha is one of the popular tourist destination in India. When you are planning for a 2-3 day vacation with family or friends, Digha can be a perfect option, if you are in West Bengal preferably Kolkata.Time has taken its toll and Digha is not a virgin beach anymore; since it is crowded by thousands during most of the times of the year, yet there are small beaches like Talsari and Mandarmani, close to Digha which are less crowded and are more tempting for the ones who prefer peace and serenity amongst loneliness. If you want numbers, there are over a lakh footfalls each year in Digha.Probably all bongs have some memory/special moments associated with Digha - be it their childhood, adolescence or adulthood. I have been of no exception to this rule Digha has always been a special retreat for me as a child and I always cherish those golden days I had enjoyed with my family.

Walk away from the crowd following the coastline

If you stay in the crowded region then this would feel like just another beach of India but if you dare to walk away from the crowd following the coastline the beauty of the beach would unfold. There are lots of activities to do in the beach here. Horse ride, shooting games, tasting foods, banana ride over water thrive in the beach during day time. During night time the beach is much less crowded compared to old Digha.New Digha will appeal to all kinds of travellers. The fun seekers, the crowd lovers and also the solitude seekers like me! I followed the coastline in the morning at about 8AM and kept on walking away from the main beach and then I was in a totally empty patch of the beach. So serene it was. I hiked up to the nearby small hill and took loads of photos! Peak season for visiting Digha is winter and off-season is summer whereas spring and autumn can be considered the shoulder season. Mornings and evenings are the best time of the day to explore the beach, particularly in summer when the Sun glares up in the sky after 11AM. Oh well don't forget to swim in the sea! It's fun!
