About New Digha

New Digha is an extension of the older part of Digha and has many hotels and other accommodation facilities that make it a hotspot among tourists. Apart from the beach, a very new addition to the list of attractions is the Science Centre that was founded by the National Council of Science Museums.

The science centre helps to enjoy as well as learn some science. The centre also has a park that represents the Jurassic Age. Besides, Digha also hosts one of the biggest Marine Aquariums in India, just opposite the Digha Hospital. A park with the Amravati Lake offers opportunities for boating. Deepak Mitra’s Snake Farm is located very near the lake.

It is always awesome to be in Digha with friends/family. I have visited there with my friends group during last summer to avoid the scorching heat of the Kolkata. And we had a lots of fun there, specially the breeze that blowing through the sea beach throughout the night. We cherish those beautiful moments of our trip.

"Nice weekend getaway with friends"

  • 5.00/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
We visited this place during October (2014) when the cyclone 'Hudhud " had hit the shores of Bay of Bengal. We were not sure initially whether to visit this place during the cyclone. Finally we decided to pack our bags and leave for this place. It was a perfect weekend getaway with friends.

Do try Crabs and Prawns in nearby restaurants. Beware of pickpockets.

And for ladies out there there is an advice - beware of cheap people there who might try to take advantage in a wrong way.

"Fried fishes after sunset"

It's good for Bengali people to frequently jump into Digha in the weekend, easy to go and there are plenty of hotels to accommodate every class of people. Main attraction must be fried fishes at beach area after sunset.

The sea beach at New digha is beautiful. The sea water is far from the road. You can walk on sand bed and enjoy the clean air. The beach also offers adventure sports like motor boat ride, horse riding.

"Popular beach to visit"

  • 6.00/7
  • Posted 3 months ago
Digha is the most popular sea beach near kolkata apart from other least comparable sea beach such as Bakkhali, sagar island ( district 24 parganas south ), sankarpur mandarmoni ( both in district -purba medinipur ) really, really extraordinarily nice beach on Bay of Bengal.
