Can't describe the feeling of the experience.
It's awesome experience.
Would love to have it again.
I am fan of railway a well as hills that's why it was like a dream come true I was really jumping when I got my tickets confirm and really loved to ride.
There are some beautiful views in train which can not be seen by road trip.
And it will be best if you climb from mettupalayam to Ooty it's new experience it runs with steam engine from Mettupalayam to coonur and that's most exciting part train lit rally climb in tilting manner

"Good train ride, must do activity"

  • 5.5/7

Good train ride from Coonoor to Adamantly (Ooty). Very picturesque and the Heritage train even has a steam engine but our trip was driven by a diesel engine. There are 3 stations Wellington, Aruvankadu, and Letting between and the total journey takes 1. 5hrs. Please queue atleast 45mins earlier as for the general booking starts 30mins before departure. The general fare in only INR 10, but what we missed is for only a INR 15 you can get a reservation and travel in the reserved coaches! The general coach is added to the train at Coonoor as the train originates from an earlier station and comes with people already boarded. You have to queue up on the small platform and is managed by the railway police and staff! :) Was overall fun but don't miss the reserved coach as the seating in the general coach is a bit uncomfortable. The staff manages it well though. There are 3 timings going to Coonoor 7:45 am, 10:45 am and 12:30am or so but best checked on IRCTC or the hotel. The return was either at 2:00pm or 6:00pm so opted to take a car back instead. Fun ride like the Shimla mini train.

"Just an average Trip"

  • 3.0/7

We family of 2 adults and 2 kids took this train from Conoor to Ooty.
Its good to do a reservation and not wait for the last second as there was mad crowd for general cabin.
The seats are really tight with 5 ft long seat assigned for 5 members.
There is totally nothing much to see and enjoy in this trip for adults and kids. No great valley nor mountains to view.
May be can try for a 5 hrs trip from mettupalayam to Ooty. This might have few great sights.

A must for all people who visit Ooty. Please check the train timings. It's better if you take a bus from Ooty to Coonoor and return by train from Coonoor to Ooty. Lovely scenery.

"Lovely experience in Toy Train"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jul 7, 2016
Lovely experience in Ooty is toy train. I heard lot about this toy train earlier, so I'm so excited to get a ticket. I'm glad got a ticket. The journey is about 1 hr from Ooty to Canoor. The sceneries are too good, but getting the railway ticket is too difficult. Have to wait min 2 hrs in a line to get a ticket. One person will get min of 4 tickets.

"Heritage train journey"

Travelled from Ooty to Coonoor. It is a nice journey and can see the villages, tea estates, Eucalyptus trees, tunnels, etc. We precooked the first class tickets through IRCTC to avoid long queues and rush. First class coach attached to train at end. So we can see the nature from 3 sides.
