Niravi village lies in the south of Karaikal and is noted for its temple of Sri Jambunatha Swami that is believed to be around 300 years old. The ancient temple was constructed by Thirumalai Rayan who ruled this region between 1453 and 1468 as a representative of the Vijayanagar Empire. The Thiruvathirai, Vaikunta Ekadasi and Thirukkarthigai festivals are attended by people in large number.
