We booked two rooms for our family in Oak Fields. Rooms are very neat and clean. Bathrooms are very good. Staff are very good and they helped us to get two way transportation from the hotel to Munnar town. Breakfast is very nice and tasty. Running hot water is supplied for specific timings only. There is no internet at the hotel. The hotel location is very nice and it lies at the top of one of the hills called Pothamedu view point. We can see the tea plantations and it is very cool to look around the hotel. The transportation to the hotel is by auto rickshaw, jeep or taxi only from the main road for nearly 6 kms. Since it lies at the top of the hill, there is no shop near the hotel.
Had a two days stay with family on 24th and 25th December at Oak Fields. The property is situated amongst a tea estate with nice views of tea and cardamom plantation. However, the resort is grossly and poorly managed and we had a bad time with the services Rooms are decent and well maintained. Apparently the elevator breaks down often (we could see a maintenance board, luckily it was working both days when we were there). It will be harrowing experience for guests staying on 4th or 5th floor when the lift is out. We had an amazing view of the mountains right from the room Where it sucks is at the service part. No response to room service calls. Had to literally call and follow up with the staff at least 10 times to get hot water at Bath room. Tried to order tea at the room, followed up couple of times and then decided not to pursue further. On the eve of Xmas (24th), there was a compulsory dinner. The staff are quite inexperienced how to run a restaurant - no water provided, seating not properly set, overall an amateuer set up. Being a buffet, things went on fine without much issues Height of discomfort was the dinner at 25th night (a la-carte dinner). The entire local management absconded from the hotel being a Xmas night with nobody to take care of the guests. They let the poor north Indian/Bengali staff manage the entire resort that night. People were waiting for hours to get what they ordered. Could see a large group of guests finally entering the kitchen on their own and assisting the cooks. Felt like we were in a refugee camp, in spite of paying a bomb for the rooms. We had small kids in our group and by the time food arrived after the long wait, they all slept (sleeping empty stomach on Xmas night- felt too bad) At the same time, we appreciated those north Indian staff kids who worked very hard to manage the guests. If the resort management had any commitment to the customer, one of them would have stayed there and handled the situation We will not go to Oak Fields any more Advice to travellers: Please go to this property at your own risk !!
Very nice location. View of tea garden and mountain is fabulous. Staff were very supportive but less man power in the hotel. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Food was not that good and you don, t have option since the hotel is far away from the city centre. Overall I rate the hotel average.
We had decided to stay in Munnar away from the town area in between the nature. Hence, we preferred said hotel considering its location which is about 10 Kms away from the Munnar town. Initially we enjoyed an half hour mountain trail to reach hotel from Munnar which was through beautiful hills and valleys. The location of the hotel was excellent in the hilly area surrounded with beautiful tea gardens. We were satisfied with our decision to choose such hotel. Due to non-maintenance and leakage in bathroom we changed our room and new room was very spacious and with wooden flooring and furniture. We enjoyed the view of these tea gardens from window. Morning walk in tea garden and we had photo session in the tea gardens. No need to have separate tea garden tour. Being Xmas eve they provided mandatory Gala Dinner, but the service and quality of food was not up to the mark which was also proved from the waste remained in the plates of the visitors. Visitors were seen waiting for the food items near buffet area and finally seen managing with the available one. Property maintenance, service and house keeping was poor. But overall nice stay in the hotel considering its location and room space.
This was my second visit to Kashmir of south India. First one was a bachalor trip and now I had come on a honeymoon trip. What better place could I have got other then oakfields. The location was breathtaking and so was the room. Very nicely madeup. The highlight of the room was the bathroom with jaguar fittings. So neat that didn't feel like using them only. This is an ideal honeymoon place away from the crowd. The only sound that can be heard is of the generator in between. Went for a nice walk among the tea gardens surrounding the hotel. The staff were good. Food was good albeit a bit on the higher side in terms of price. But its okay. Most of the day time was spent in sightseeing. Evening there was a nice snooker table as well as a carrom board to play around. There was a dance floor too but the day long outing had made us a bit tired to go for it.
This hotel location is very good. Its surrounded by tea estate. The price of room tariff was also very cheap compare to other hotels. Breakfast was nice. But its very difficult to reach from Munnar city by road. This place is suitable for couple. Staff was very friendly to serve any time.
