Last month I was in Kolkatta for my business work. I stayed in OBEROI. The name itself is a big name. Its was a grand experience. I stayed there for about 3 days. The most awesome was the room with all the comfortable amenities i.e bed, the big bathroom. The biggest attraction was the convention hall and the swimming pool. The meals was too good. And the behavior of staff was also nice. One must go to Oberoi hotel, Kolkata. You can have a very good experience. Last not the least, the atmosphere of this hotel is like a paradise. The dishes were so much tasty. All my business colleagues too appreciated it. I will definitely come again.
The hotel is really only for those who can spend without rethinking. I had been there on an invitation from Oxigen Wallet Team as a lucky winner of their contest to meet South African Cricketers. I visited one of their members room and it was awesome. It really pleasure to stay their. Whenever guests arrive there are always 3-4 staffs to welcome and serve you. At every point there are people doing Namaste. We had the lunch there and it was fantastic. I was glad to be there
The Oberoi Grand is too good hotel in Kolkata City. The rooms was very neat & clean which category we want in a good hotel. The hotel location was good. The staff are friendly. Here beds are very comfortable. Here food was excellent qualities. I think this type of hotel should be located in every city of India. I think my travelling had succes. I enjoyed very much in this hotel.
I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions, both business trips of short duration. From personal experience, I can vouch that for the short duration business traveller, who would be short of time to catch up with other than his / her business activities, maybe shopping (especially on the cusp of Durga Puja festivities). The nightlife at Park Street close by, or simply an early morning jog around the greens of Esplanade, this is the most convenient and comfortable place to stopover. The hotel is actually an oasis, within the bustling madness of New Market / Esplanade. For a probashi Bengali like me, everything of interest was a short walk away, including an outlet of KC Das, to indulge my sweet tooth. The hotel has a lovely old world charm, reinforced by a lot of dark wood panelling, the lobby, the corridors, the room, even the elevators, and the toilet seat cover too. The room was particularly comfortable, though a tad large for a single traveller, but I am certainly not complaining at being indulged. The pool is quite decently sized, given the location, and a good place to lounge about (which I hope to do on my next trip). But use the pool I did, for a good workout after an outing in the humidity of a balmy September evening. The restaurant has a good spread, with trademark Bengali dishes / delicacies. However, the live counter service could try and expedite serving out the orders, especially at breakfast. Would have loved some live music accompaniment, though I am told that live music is played in the Chowringhee Bar on certain days. Staff is extremely courteous, and eager to assist even if on the move, or not directly concerned with you. Must admit my embarrassment at having a lady staff member holding the entrance door to the hotel's main lobby open for me, but I guess that would represent the grand hallmark of class - a signature trademark of Oberoi's. Overall, a classy place, old worldly, but contemporary enough to meet all conceivable needs of the modern business traveller, especially on short trips to the city. Looking forward to stay there again.
The Oberoi experience in July 2015 was excellent. The hotel is in a great location, minutes away from the bustling bars and eaters of Park Street. I did not book a high-end deluxe room but it still oozed class and comfort. The service, from check-in through housekeeping to check-out, was simply the best I have experienced (and I have stayed at a lot of hotels in different countries! ). The politeness of the staff is only matched by their efficiency of service. The restaurant was small but the service was superb and the food, particularly the Bengali cuisine was of top quality. Breakfast was an excellent mix of western and Indian/Bengali favorites. The only quibble I had was with the high cost of wi-fi in the room. The hotel bar was too quiet for my liking, but it was in keeping with the old world charm of the place. Room Tip: Wi-fi too expensive, I thought. So best to look for a deal which includes free wi-fi.
