"You wake up in the mornings to an uninterrupted view of the serene lake waters"
- Posted Oct 2, 2011
Best Experience: But first the property. It is reasonably large - probably around 50 rooms which are more like cottages. Large rooms, reasonably clean, comfortable beds, a clean if slightly yellow bathtub and a large, (non-airconditioned) porch or patio go to make a comfortable stay. The view of course is mindboggling from the side that faces the lake. The property is green, with well-kept lawns and a number of trees dotting the entire area. There is even a man-made pond where ducks float around. All in all, very soothing.
Worst Experience: The housekeeping staff is good, all other staff is fit to be in a 2-star hotel. The restaurant staff servies tea around 10-15 minutes after the breakfast dishes are cleared away. Despite pre-ordering the food from our rooms, the food was served 15 minutes after we arrived at the restaurant! The staff is over-eager to clear the table and once cleared the dishes even before we had finished. After specifically asking for room temperature water, we were served chilled water and when we protested, the waiter just shrugged and looked away. We had to insist on the manager being called in before we got a change of water. Fingerbowls were refused the first time but we saw some others get them at the next meal! Moral of the story, go elsewhere for your meals. Although the food is tasty, the service leaves a bitter aftertaste. The front-desk staff is equally inefficient. They don\'t bother to call back with information on sight-seeing and one of them even had the temerity to ask me for the contact details of the place I wanted to visit. If I knew it, wouldn\'t I have called myself?? And are the guests supposed to know the telephone numbers of the local attractions? If you can afford the more expensive five-stars dotting the lakefront in a row along that stretch of road, go there. If this is the best you can manage (and it is very reasonably priced and a wonderful property in my opinion), go outside for your meals and stick to the front-desk manager who seemed the best of the lot.
