"Gokarna often called "Goa". Popular-Om Beach" new review

  • 5.6/7
  • Posted 2 weeks ago
Gokarna often called "Goa", it known for iits beaches which are secluded and pristine. Om beach, about eight kilometers from temple town of Gokarna, is quite popular. Is an excellent destination for beach trekking. Gokarna is situated among hills and the beaches are on the other side of the hills. For some great food & mesmerising view of the sea! Namaste cafe at Om beach which serves great food.

An awesome secluded temple town, great beaches with local cafés on the beach offering both western and Indian dishes to go along with a chilled beer to laze around all day.

"Not bad and not great either"

  • 4.0/7

We discovered this beach when we went in search of the Namaste cafe. It is a nice beach with a few rocks placed in such a shape that it gives the OM shape to the beach. My 4 year old had a great time on the beach looking at little crabs crawling on the rocks at the edge of the sea. It was a reasonably clean beach and most visited beach in Gokarna.

"Main attraction of Gokarna"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Mar 9, 2017
The first thing we get to mind when we say Gokarna is OM Beach.

This place will be very crowded most of the times.

The water is not so clean.

It can be maintained better.

But one more important thing about OM Beach is, it is the starting point for a trek to 4 different beaches which cannot be accessed through Road.

You can enquire with locals and they will guide you for the trek.

1. Om Beach.

2. Half Moon Beach.

3. Paradise Beach.

4. Belekan beach. Before reaching each different beach one has to climb a small hill which goes amidst Forest.

2. So totally 3 hills have to be trekked.

3. This trek is not recommended for families with small kids or people not having practice of Trekking earlier.

4. Please remember that there is not access to road until you reach the last beach.

5. So you have to trek till the last beach or go back the same way till Om beach.

6. Once you reach Belekan beach you can check with locals for an Auto and go back to Om Beach.

7. The Trek even though little tiring is worth trying.

"Nice place, with decent crowd"

This place is very nice for family and couples. I have not seen people drinking on the beach like beaches of Goa. Water sports are available on the beach. Facility for changing is not that good but better than nothing.

Average beach. Nothing much to see and do. Just some rocks. Lonely beach too. Can spend time with your close ones but apart from that no other activities. Scary place to visit at night. No lights and no people. We visited it in the morning. Drive to beach is nice though.

"A peaceful place"

I love beaches. A very peaceful place to sit and think about whatever you like with indefiniteness of sea in front of you. The rocky beach with many shacks to have good egg made food just make your day.

You can go anytime. Sunrise, sunset. Sometime you can even find dolphins. Little careful while going to the water. To the right you have rocks, we enjoyed sunset for about 3 hours. Water rides are good, fun lover can go for banana boating.

"Good place to booze when with friends"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Mar 9, 2016
Good place to booze when you are going with friends. Cottages are cheap. Faced issue with bonfire as the wood was not readily available. Personal vehicles will help a lot. Need to carry huge amounts of cash as very few restaurants accept cards and they charge 6% for the same. No ATMs are available at this place. Need to travel Gokarna in case you need cash which costs you 400 bucks.
