When we reached late after a long journey, and the network availability was poor. Hotel staff arranged deliciously made food in an hour. They cooked in front of us and loved their team work and efforts such as to start kitchen at late of the night. Service was prompt and timely. Water was warm so after staying in cold weather it was more comfort to enjoy the hot shower bath.Good thing about it was that it was near shanti stupa. And we went to shanti stupa for early morning photography and time lapsing at night.
Oriental was our base in Ladakh for a day trip. It's more of a hotel than a guest house. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Oriental is located about 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Leh city. The views from the rooms were spectacular. The property has a good restaurant in it's premises, mostly serving Indian cuisine. However if one wanted to eat out, the closest restaurant was a good 5-10 minute walk away. The staff were friendly and the front office ready to guide and arrange transportation. Had a look at other hotels and Oriental compares very favorably with respect to the other hotels in Leh. Suggest a room in the new block, upper floors for the views.
During my visit in September last, we booked in advance in this hotel. As per budgetary needs its perfect. The well mannered staff, well maintained lawn and room services pulls you again and again. Even they arrange in perfect for any help you need eg. For outing itineraries etc. I would recommend this hotel for romantic trips or hangouts with your friends and colleagues.
Stayed at this hotel after reaching Leh for acclimatization. The hotel is located away from the congested roads of Leh and has majestic views to offer. Unlike the many hotels in Leh, this has a nice garden which adds to its charm and comes in handy if you want to spend time doing nothing and just acclimatizing. The food is a sure winner and the variety on offer during buffet is mind blowing (by Leh standards). The owners of the hotel are really a helpful lot and would go out of their way to help you (typical of Ladakhi people ). Overall the hotel should be surely a first choice for people visiting Leh.
Stayed at hotel oriental in June 2015 and found this place perfect. The hotel is located at a nice place with fantastic views and the staff is very cooperative. The rooms are VFM and meet all the basic requirements. The high point of the hotel has to be its amazing food which made us to book the same room on our return from Nubra.
This is a very good hotel and location is also good. Though it is at a 1 Km distance from the main market but near to Shanti Stupa. Owner is very helpful and very co-operative. This hotel is run by a family and all the members who are taking care of the hotel activities are very nice people. They can take care of your whole trip in Ladakh if you inform to them in advance. They have in house garden and farm where they grow the vegetables and fruits. If you are staying in this hotel then keep a torch with you as if you are coming from the market to the hotel you may face some dark spots and street dogs on the way. All the food joints are in the market so to take your food you have to go to market else eat in the hotel itself. They also cook good food. In my case we generally eat in the market and return back to hotel around 9 PM. Because this is around 1 KM away from the market so we also enjoy the walk. I recommend this hotel to all who wants to stay beyond the market rush.
This is an amazing hotel with a long range of rooms available as per your budget. It is located away from the heart of the city and very close to Shanti Stupa with magnificent views all around. The staff was extremely courteous and efficient. Recommended whether you are travelling alone as a backpacker, with your family or in a group.
Staff behaviour was friendly and services were fully sufficient. Location of the hotel was very good as it was situated at a convenient place. Food was delicious. Rooms were neat and tidy. Activities were superb. I had no problem during check-in and checkout process. Inner and outer look of the hotel was fantastic. I travelled there with my family in July, 2014. Destination was excellent for travel. This is a recommendable hotel for travellers.
This was one of the best hotels in Leh. Though Leh is a place has really got nice people but these hoteliers are too good to be in this business. Staffs were prompt. They helped us in making up of our plans and provided useful info. Rooms are really value for money. Buffet Dinner was average for the price paid.

Its really nice to stay Oriental. In my earlier Leh stay four years back there was a hotel without electricity, running water etc. in comparison Oriental is a heaven. Nice to see the improvement in electricity. The rooms (we stayed in Building C0 are great with good view even from bathroom. But there is a catch! though all rooms on the building bears same price, the ground floor rooms are about a metre short in length as compared to first and second floor rooms. The ground floor ones do not offer views either. The breakfast (included in our tariff) was great and filling, particularly the Oriental Special Breakfast. However dinner was not good. May be the food stuff (vegetables) are good, kitchen staffs are sincere, but cold nights at Leh deserve some other tastes as dinner.
Ladakh is the best place I have visited till date. Unxploited and pristine. This guest house doesn\'t entertain indian tourists well; I had heard of this but still ignored that as one off case and booked it. However now I also agree with this sentiment. They (staff as well as owners) are actually not bothered about Indians. They should very clearly advertise \'Indians come at your own risk\'
The care for every visitor by the lady is really exceptional. Her advice regarding health hazards is touching. The boys in the kitchen always tried to give the value of money. a young man of short of walking always takes care of my wife as she was a diabetic. They were very prompt. The apple orchard always becons the tourists of plains to pick a one. There was no, NO, to the visitors approach for an apple from three themselves.
Leh is paradise on earth and there is no doubt about that!
