Pandu, the suburban town of Guwahati, is named after King Pandu, who was the father of the Pandavas. There is a temple on the Tila hills in the town, which is dedicated to Pandu and is known as the Pandunath temple.
According to legend, it is believed that the Pandavas stayed in this town during their exile under the guise of Ganesha. There are five idols of Lord Ganesha, which represent the five Pandava brothers.
