Patna Planetarium is considered as one of the largest planetariums in Asia and attracts thousands of domestic and international tourists each year. Popularly known as Indira Gandhi Planetarium, this planetarium opened for the public on 1 April 1993.
The idea of this planetarium was conceived by the chief minister of Bihar in 1989, Shree Satyendra Narayan Sinha. The completion of its construction took 4 years and was finally inaugurated by the then chief minister of Bihar, Shri Laloo Prasad on 21st March 1993. The planetarium hosts various exhibitions and shows in the context of astronomy.
This planetarium is situated 8 km from Patna and is closely located to all public portals. It is about 1.5 km away from Patna Railway Station and 2 km away from the public bus stand. This planetarium is located 10 km away from private bus stand, making it easily accessible for international as well as domestic tourists.
