Peralassery is a town located around 12 km away from Kannur, on the Kannur-Kuthuparamba high road. The Hanging Bridge, also popular as the Thookku Palam, is a prominent tourist attraction of this town.
This bridge, across the Kallada River, is believed to be built in 1877 by the British. A concrete bridge was developed parallel to this bridge and the Archaeology Department declared the Hanging Bridge as a protected structure.
Another famous attraction of this town is the Sri Subrahmanya Temple which is dedicated to Lord Muruga. This temple is believed to be associated with the epic Ramayana. The major attractions of this temple are the cultural events like Chakyarkoothu, Seethankan Thullal, Ottanthullal, Parayan Thullal and Kathakali.
