Picture this - Drive 300kms from Bangalore - designated parking in a coffee estate - a wild 4x4 mud-bashing jeep ride to the property - amazing 'tranquil' place to stay - clean rooms and bathrooms - beautiful cascading waterfall - a handbook full of treks around - amazing food - excellent guests - and best of all..in the middle of nowhere ! Thats a feeling you hardly get in the other home stays. This place really disconnects you from the rat race !

Best Experience: Easily the hosts. Even though I have strong connections in Coorg, the Apparanda family are easily some of the sweetest folks to spend the weekend with. Some people here complain about the food...I don't really understand why - its simply awesome !

Worst Experience: None whatsoever, if you're able to forgive the plethora of leeches when it rains. But you don't jeep into a deep jungle and expect pink elephants flying neither !

Its realy out of the place for a urban dweller. Very picturesque, calm and serene surroundings, great host family, number of trekking options to choose from, and but not the least very affordable

Best Experience: We went for a trek to the second highest in karnataka. It was almost an whole day affair, was very enthralling and adventurous. While on the top, we were almost drown in the cloud cover-great feeling to be on the top of the mountain and embracing the clouds!

Worst Experience: The food is not very consistent. They need to get the right mix. Defintely needs improvement to further experience the overall stay

This place is another testimony for a district (Kodagu / Coorg) that is bountiful of natural / scenic spots. It is completely secluded and located amidst valleys and forest. One can spend time in complete tranquility and breathe fresh air which is free from any sort of pollution. You can either do some trekking activities or just laze under the shades of the huge trees & admire the valleys in front of you. There are lots of trekking options available around this place, both short and long ones. Donít miss the trek to the nearby stream in the forest and the newly found waterfall. And the best part is you donít need guides to go around, just a hand drawn map provided by the host is more than enough! Overall the place is simply awesome - A wonderful home stay which is aesthetically done provides excellent accommodation for the kind of tariff they charge - Rs.700 (2beds) & Rs.1000 (4beds) & they do have some Hut kind of accommodation which could be a much cheaper option. In the night the place is even more interesting - except for the rooms (fitted with basic lighting) itís complete darkness all across and in the darkness you can hear the insects chirping and birds tweeting from the thick woods. The weather was ok. I had visited this place during March end so it was slightly warm during day and slightly chill during nighttime.

Best Experience: Be enthusiastic to explore on your own because that is when you get to have the best experiences. Our trek to one of the nearest stream in the forest from the dry pond was one of the best experiences we had. The 3 - 4 km jeep drive from the base of the valley to the home stay is really an interesting drive that could be done only by a 4wD vehicle!

Worst Experience: They need to improve a lot on the food they provide and their interactions with the guest. Especially their coffee because it isnít the kind of coffee one would expect from the home town of coffee (coorg)! The tariff for the food is slightly on the higher side. This being a home stay, the host would also need to have more casual and interactive sessions with the guests and provide information about the culture, tradition and other interesting details about the place.
