A good stay in the new wing

Posted 23 Feb

We travelled to McLeodganj last year for a short holiday in the middle of summer, to escape the Delhi heat. My husband and I have been to McLeodganj a few times in the past, and while looking for a good hotel online, we came across the newly renovated Pink House. Since we got a good deal on Makemytrip, we decided to book it Pros:. The room was located in the new wing, which is nice and colourful, and aesthetically pleasing with paintings and murals. Our room was located on a higher floor and being Superior category was large and had an attached balcony. The best thing about the balcony was the view of the mountains - great spot to curl up with a book or glass of wine (pic attached). Check-in was smooth, we had enough privacy, and the rooftop restaurant had good views and a nice indoor area with books and comfy cushions. The staff was helpful as well and service was usually quick. They even offered to get us drinks from outside since it wasn't available in the hotel Cons:. The major downside to this hotel was the 100-step descent from the main road. We had their staff help us carry our luggage both ways, but it was still not enjoyable to climb up 100 steps each time we wanted to step out of the hotel. The food was very average, especially since McLeodganj is known for its numerous cafes offering delicious food. One can have some light snacks indoors but for meals I would say definitely eat out. Also, it was a bummer that the hotel didn't offer alcohol, and even though their staff stepped out to get us some beer, they overcharged us for it . We tried out a foot spa in their in-house spa, but the masseurs were quite average, both for me and my husband. The ongoing construction noise nearby spoilt the experience. At Rs. 600 per person, it matched Delhi prices but sadly did not live up to expectations. All in all, we enjoyed the view and the spaciousness of the room, and the look and feel of the hotel. The deal we got made it worthwhile. However, McLeodganj has lots of affordable accommodation options and so the staff need to work towards improving spa services, food, toiletries in the bathroom, etc to make it worth guests spending that extra money on this hotel

Pleasant stay & cherishable memories

Posted 17 Jun, 2015

Loved our stay! The Hotel provides a magnificent view of the mountains from the roof tops. And also few rooms. The location is a little off the main road but that adds to the calm and the beautiful view. The market is very nearby. The hotel staff is very hospitable and made no false promises. We were a group of 5 and had pre booked the Hotel and Triund Trek Package online, and were glad to receive everything as discussed. The food is absolutely delicious and the service was quick. Although you can also try nearby food joints like Jimmy's and Baldev's Punjabi dhaba. Newly built, spacious rooms, old building also very well maintained, Courteous staff, pocket friendly. Go for it! If you're planning a trek as well to Triund, try their packages for a smooth and efficient run within a nominal charge.

Close to nature and awesome view from hotel

Posted 10 Nov, 2015

I visited McLeodganj with my two 10th class school friends for memorizing old school days. The place was soo relaxing / close to nature and the Hotel location and view give you a beautiful water fall sound, and also beautiful cloudy view during rainy season. The Hotel is soo closed to market area and market near the hotel is full with the mountains traditional items. The best part with the hotel is a open mountain tracking area. Advice: The Volvo reach the place in the Morning and hotel will provide the room at 12"0"clock, please solve this problem at the time of booking else you will be in trouble. The Hotel staff will not be able to provide you any snacks or food after 10 or 10:30 in night, please make necessary arrangements accordingly. Take one electric Kettle with you, hotel will not provide you this type of facilities. Try the local food available with the hotel and prefer to take morning breakfast on the top of the hotel. The morning open mountain view of the hotel gives you a really awesome time.

Nice property

Posted 1 Jul, 2016

It's an amazing hotel if you are prepared to walk down & climb up the stairs. Wall art right from the entrance up to the reception is a treat to the eyes. Cooperative staff, amazing view from the rooms & good food is all you need, & you surely get that. They take care of all your needs. Best part is that the owner(mr. Javed) himself is personally involved in the management to keep things good. Bathrooms could be better, not much happy with that but because they provide 24hr hot water supply so no complains for that too. The books collection can keep you occupied on a good rainy day to sit & relax in the terrace enjoying the beautiful mountain view. 1 major complaint I have is that the rooms get too noisy is there is movement on the terrace. The staff could not help me on that as the guests have been doing that, but it's was too annoying. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cozy home stay feel. What it looks like from outside is not to be considered if you have visited the inside. I just wish if I could get one of the amazing art pieces. Keep up the standards & keep improvising.

Best scenic view hotel

Posted 18 Mar, 2017

We went to celebrate new year hearing that McLeodganj is one of the best place in india to do so. Soon we started searching for the best hotels and our search ended up at Pink house. We selected super deluxe room which has a best scenic view you can imagine of. They have two buildings now & we got room into thr new building which has got new infra and good look too. Also we booked online with good discount & it costs us 5700 bucks for 3D/2N including breakfast. The staff is good & very helpful. We didn't tried other meals but the breakfast options are good in the restaurant attached to it. The kashmiri Khewa tea is the must have thing along with the cheese omlet. The location is a walking distance from the main market which makes it a best choice. The only thing to keep in mind is, you need to get down around 60 steps down to the main road to access the hotel. So bit difficult for elderly people who are not so stairs friendly. But apart from that there is no look back.

A great place to stay

Posted 5 Feb, 2016

It is a great hotel to stay, the staff is very good. They also provide packages for Triund Trek. We took a package for 6 people and it was a great experience. Food and the services were also nice. The view from hotel roof top is really nice. I can surely think of going there again. If you are going for the trek, then pre-book your hotel and package because in the peak time it is very difficult to find a place there. The one and only thing that can be a turnoff for this hotel is the stairs that you have to climb to reach the hotel. Rest everything about this place is good. You can surely go for this option.
