Pleasant home stay; courteous staff

Posted 18 Aug, 2014

It was a pleasant home stay. The hotel stay was one kilometre from bus stand. I was on relaxation trip with friend to this place and i did not face any difficulty in reaching. The appearance of the home stay and surrounding was good. The staffs at the hotel were ready to lend a hand, courteous and kind. The home stay was clean and well maintained with all the amenities at good condition. There was no view from the room. The food was homely and good. I didn?t face any delay during check-in and checkout. The money spent on the hotel was reasonable. I would like to recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Memorable stay with modern amenities

Posted 7 May, 2014

The accomodations are in the form of Cottages, neat, comfortable with all modern amenities, able to accomodate upto 4 persons/ 2 couples per cottage. A small Coffee Estate, with the Main Estate Bungalow also serving as the office and Dining Room, Pompei Valley Estate is nestled in a valley barely 2 km downhill from Madkeri at Talathmane. The hosts were very helpful and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Tariffs were very reasonable. Food was good. Company was pleasant. All in all, a memorable stay.

Bad homestay

Posted 4 Jan, 2012

Neither good Nor bad home stay, if you are looking for private space from landlord's place then this home stay might be good choice. This home stay is not located in right place for the best view of the hills, but it is very close to madikeri town (about 3km from town).

Myself, my wife and my 4 year old daughter went to this homestay on a long weekend(April 22-24). It\'s an average place. The cottages that we got initially were not very clean and we requested and changed to another cottage. The place is not very big. You can walk around the entire place in 15 min max. Food is not great for veg. people. The service is not great either. You don\'t feel like homestay. It is somewhere between homestay and hotel.

I liked the most the hospitality of the host. They are very warm in welcome and their kids are cute and beautiful. The home stay is very quite and have very good greenery all around. They have pond having fishes, one duck and a tortoise. They have a cow and calf along with goat and hen :). Rooms are not very specious but more than worth of the money. House roof is made up asbestos but there is not problem as weather there is cool.

Pompei valley resort is indeed ideally located for anyone who is looking to get away from the hustle-bustle of cities to quieter natural surroundings. The cottages located in the middle of a coffee estate give one first hand experience of living right in midst of nature. A clean hygienic cow shed, man-made & natural water resources, variety of trees and species of birds adds to the flora and fauna. Early morning walk around the estate watching different varieties of birds, pond with fishes and ducks, freshly fallen fruits waiting to be picked up, seasonal flowers etc is in itself therapeutic. The children were so excited to first time witness a cow being milked and helped in grazing them too!! Watching the country cockerel \'rule the roost\' preying on flying insects with victorious \'crow\' perched atop was fascinating. Amongst the places to visit around Coorg are Abbi Falls, Raja Seat Garden (vantage point & toy train for kids), Fort (not worth the time), Dubbare Elephant camp (17 kms away), Nisarg Dham with facilities for boating etc (common to other tourist places) and the Namdroling Monastery Golden temple at Kushalnagar ( 30 kms from Madikere) The most amazing part of the stay at Pompei valley is to watch Tom and Sarita (owners of Pompei valley) go about their work around the estate. It is an experience by itself to see how closely they are acquainted with nature and the response of nature towards them. Tom is well informed, has in-depth knowledge about the surroundings and is dedicated towards conserving natural habitat around the estate. His narration about different aspects of natural habitat around the estate had our rapt attention. Another part of the awesome experience was the hospitality and \'home cooked\' food by Tom and Sarita. For connoisseurs of \'non-veg\', I could personally vouch that it was a \'treat\'. It is originality of the place and personal touch of people that has been sanctified and maintained rather than another commercial venture that makes this place so appealing. Overall, a wonderful experience, with perfect opportunity to bond with nature and one another.

We went together as a couple during the rainy seas...

Posted 21 Dec, 2006

We went together as a couple during the rainy season. Although, the place had frequent rains we really enjoyed our stay. We anticipated it and brought rain gear, plus you get a few hours of day of clear skies...well at least not raining ones. The cabin we had, had two bedrooms, though we only used one. It came equipped with a nice clean bathroom, full size bed, with full window to watch nature from the comforts of the bed, a dresser, and a breezy porch with chairs and table, where we spent most of our time. The place is surrounded by coffee plants, they have some really chubby pigs, and there is a small pond with antisocial ducks. Definitely a place for Adults. Kids would definitely be bored. We brought playing cards, and other things to keep us occupied. A great place to stay if you plan on spending most of the time outside, or visiting elsewhere. No tv\'s or radios. Unless you are going for the solitude. Was a great place to get away from everyone else. We would love to visit again. Loads of privacy, which is a hard thing to find in this country.

Our stay in Pompei valley was good. This home stay is amidst a big estate full of greenery and is a good place to unwind from the stress of city life. From the gate till the house of the hosts, there is a narrow and rocky way for about 50 meters, along which only a small car can pass through..this is amazing...there are lots of plants and trees around....There are 4-5 mid sized small houses behind the host\'s house. These small houses are at adequate distance from each other...You can park your car just next to your house...It was really wonderful to stay in this place for 2 days watching the rain and the mist...The food was good. The service was also good. The hosts and the helping guys responded to us quickly for all our requests. Other Facilities are good enough for the money you pay. If you want to relax for the whole day or If you want to visit the places around and then relax in the evening in a very calm place, then this is the place. If you want to engage in some fun activities within the resorts, then this is not the place. The biggest advantage of this place is it is just 2.5 kms away from city and you will not be disturbed by anyone. Only BSNL network is available and I was happy to be out of coverage area!!

We reached there around 8p.m and had quite a hard time finding the place, though the host was on mobile guiding us, courtesy no sign boards. When we reached the place we were a little taken aback as the place looked very eeire at nite and we could not see any cottages nearby. But if you are someone wanting privacy and a forest like ambience in an estate THIS IS THE PLACE. They have totally 5 cottages and it is all amply distanced from each other for privacy. The hosts themselves are quite friendly and regarding the food I SHOULD MENTION THE NON-VEG DISHES WERE VERY TASTY, though I would not vouch for the veg dishes. The cost of the food for resort standards was quite inexpensive I would say. There was not much of activity to be done inside the resort other than a casual walk around the plantation for half an hour or so. But if you just want to stay away from the hectic city life and relax in the room it is fine. Ofcourse you would find some places at an hour\'s drive or so. The service was quite normal with just two people attending to all the guests. There is no intercom and you have to use your mobile to get in touch with the hosts(caution:the coverage is very poor) or wait for the service guy who comes once in a while. Overall the ambience is good and defenitely worth the money and the hosts were very accomodating and help you out for anything, though the service could be improved in terms of having one more service staff.

The place is quaint and charming with a very laid back feel to it. Perfect place for a weekend getaway to rejuvenate the senses. The place is run by a very hospitable couple who make some of the most sumptuous local food and are ever willing to be of service. The cottages are a little small though, but cosy enough for a couple to stay in. The resort is located at a little distance from the city so you have all the serenity that you want
