We (Me and Wife) reached the hotel in peak summer on a scorching sunny day. weary we headed to our room and were given the best treatment possible by the staff. Room was ready and took no time for checking in. Shows the front office staff as well as back office boys were prompt and upto mark. Resot has got its own private beach you can hang around , let yourself sit next to shores or just enjoy their beautiful garden. Private beach access is allowed till 6 in evening and they were very particular about it. Good to see guard enforcing that , that too very nicely. Very pleasant experience altogether.
We got our hotel Reservations done early in Hotel Ashok Beach Resort and the agent very conveniently forgot to mention that the check in time of the Hotel is 12 noon, we reached Pondicherry by bus after a rather difficult overnight journey and we just wanted to take some sleep before we start with the sight seeing, we took a Auto rikshaw and went to the hotel ;the standard rate is Rs150 from the Bus stand to Hotel Ashok ; also take a note that there is bus service from the bus station to all the Hotels on ECR(East Coast Road) there is a bus in every 20 mins and it only costs Rs 3 also if you are adventure loving sort you can ask the Auto to take you to Mission street and from there you can hire a two wheeler (usally costs Rs 100/per day) and then drive to the hotel, its not very difficult since the there is just one main road and you have to drive straight down on it. When we reached the Hotel ..we were immediately taken in by the warmness of the place, the hotel is tucked away in a wilderness far from the maddening crowd of the city , the receptionist (a sweet lady called Miss Saundarya) told us that we are early and asked us to wait just another hour and we were checked in at 9 o clock (thanks to them) we got a nice room with a wonderful view of the sea. Also i would like to mention that this hotel sports one of the nicest beach in the city as Pondicherry beaches are pretty rough and rocky, this once also doesn’t allows you to swim ..but since its clean and secluded , there is less to crib. The staff is very friendly and accommodating (i always follow the philosophy that if you treat someone with respect that’s what you get back in return) over the period of two daysI was with them on there first name basis, the service is immaculate, the bar is open till 10:30 in the night and if you want to drink after that you can order room service to get you your poison and u can stack it in the refrigerator, the menu ..although is less in terms of varity..it more than makes up for it in quality ( pls do try out the chefs special Fish Steaks).. the ambience of the bar gives reminiscence of the old colonial times.. its a rather simple place , no frills and no string attached and thats why you end up feeling so right at home. The place still doesnt has a swimming pool although its in construction and will be ready by the peak season (Dec- Jan), i am uploadin a few pictures here but to know more about pondicherry the city itself you can try visiting my blog http://aroopsays.blogspot.com/2007/07/pondicherry-try-ityou-will-like-it.html for more pictures visit http://www.pwtw.blogspot.com/
Gud to stay in a pleasant and calm ambience. Hav a pleasant back lawn where you a good safe children play area
The activity was not conducted by the hotel. The parking place was available at the hotel. The room price was reasonable. The hotel was located nearby the main road. The Wi-Fi connection was not available in the room. The best part of the hotel was location. I would suggest this hotel to improve food quality.
If Puducherry is called the salad of south India then without bit of doubt Pondicherry Ashok Beach resort is perfect dressing for the salad..... Being a Govt hotel I had this presumption of 'ye tho sarkari hei yaar attitude' you know...The FIRST MISTAKE....You will start savoring the taste of hospitality from the main entrance of the resort....PERFECTO!!! Amble parking space, precisely speaking shut your eyes and park your TRUCK, LORRY HA HA...I mean your vehicle left right or center!!!! let me guarantee you that there wont be scratch....that is the kind of parking space they are having.... It is not my first visit to a beach resort...out of my experience with beach resorts till date i had my doubt of getting a sea view room....But at The Ashok they wont say that they will manage to get you sea facing room if we can wait for some time.....Absolute no!!!! Here you need not worry of getting a sea facing room because all the rooms they are having are absolutely sea facing...Zero Discrimination!!!! From the reception till the maintenance department you will never realize the fact that you are staying in a govt. resort..... in fact the staffs out there are so friendly and understanding that they will not let you feel that...GOOD Work guys.... View from the resort is absolutely fabulous in all the ways...it has got special charm during the mornings...a different one during the afternoons & and an outstanding gorgeous evening...And if you are lucky like me to stay in Ashok during full moon then i would simply say wOOOOWWW.....out of the world... people say that will happen only in dreamzzz.....Utopia is just imaginary.... Say no and a heavy no to those people who have got no idea that there is beauty on earth...not in their imagination...it surely exists... The Ashok Beach Resort.... The best part is about their flexibility...there you will here less no of 'NOs' unlike other so called reputed hotels...candle light dinner on the beach?? Yes...Romantic Escapade??? yes possible....Wanna enjoy the Bonfire sitting beside the beach on the greeny lawns with your friends and GIRL Friends??? Yes....A Big Yes....you say it they just do it for you... In the restaurant which is also a sea view has got its well designed and engineered menu..which will let you savor the French colonial food as well as various other cuisines fused....But the best part is that you will have to just tell the chef what taste you prefer, what is it that you want at that point of time... he will get you the best food for your taste buds...trust me... Much more to share.....my stay was 3 nights and 4 days...was kinda best time we had at The Ashok.... We will for sure go back next year...Thank you everyone out there who made our stay a memorable one....Cheers guys
