Poovar food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Poovar is still less cluttered with the so-called 'free-to-trade bohemian attitude' shops ok Kovalam. Poovar tries to tie you onto the real cause of travel - vacation. Since the USP of the place is being surrounded by water, one has to rely on the occassional boat trips if the hunger is for world-cuisine, you know what I mean !?

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
Comments: For those who want to be pampered, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE, as this is a place where one has to do self service in pampering oneself. To generate revenues, daily trips for local tourists are organized which is definitely a nuisance value for those who want to be calmly in their groove. Swimming pool, play places and even the single restaurant becomes overcrowded. Overall the service seems poor. Be it the reservation dates, which we found not matching to our request, including the date and time of departure and also that they did not seem to be apologetic about the same, instead we were made to feel as if they were doing a favor for the obliging the request. On entering our room, first instead of relaxing, I had to call the reception for making the phone work, and then had to ask for the menu card, toiletries and towels at different times nearly daily, though which is prompt. Bed making seems to be just keeping the pillows and sheets in place and not changing them. There is no hot water kettle in the room to have tea or coffee in odd hours if one wishes to. To play, places are occupied by locals who find the only place to go during their day tour is these places. When you find time otherwise the table tennis table is kept unfolded and they expect you to either make yourself the table or to wait long before they do it for you. No high chair for small children makes it difficult to sit in the restaurant, for couples who have kids. They expect you to keep a 1.5 year old child to be seated in a cradle for a new born kid? amazing. The seats are reserved in the restaurant, and the attendants see that the vantage points are only given to people who stay for long. Vegetarians beware as differentiation with non vegetarian food is nearly non-existing. For the topping, food at the restaurant is average, with no alternatives available. Not only that for those who want to enjoy evening in silence by the backwater, most of the days there will be live loud show to disturb the much needed peace. Commitments by the management are not kept even if something is requested before booking. But we still enjoyed the place as we are fun loving and enjoyed the place ourselves whatsoever, even when the management made their efforts against us. I also think this is not by chance as so many things to us. Either we were plain unlucky or they chose to ignore us. By the way when we brought all this to the notice of the management, they chose to ignore, since we were a single family. They might be providing better service to groups?Hence to people who want better service, THINK twice before booking here, as better neighbors are available..

The guest relationship manager Ms. Pushpa Johson at Estury has no courtesy to talk to guest , she was rude & arrogant while addresing the problems of the guest, the service was poor & the staff was not at all co-operative , the service at our candle light dinner was pathetic & it spoilt our stay for 2 night at the property....

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
This was my first outing after the marriage... and I wanted this trip to be fun, but was apprehensive since none of my friends had visited or heard of Poovar. But this was one of the most amazing vacation for me, Estuary view island ,as the resort says'Place where a River, Lake and Beach meet' It was nature at its best, the Backwater ride in country boat, or be it the beach that is away from the crowd where you can...

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
Going by the previous reviews, had booked for 3 days in 2nd week of Oct.07. Although it looks good, the bad service, poor food, pathetic dingy zero-star restaurant really made our holiday miserable. This is a low-grade resort, passing itself off as a premium one. Value for money is very low. Those of you who are used to staying at 4-5 star resorts....please avoid this one despite how good the pictures look. My family of four really regretted our mistake...

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
We had taken a weekend trip to Estuary Island resort after reading in Holiday IQ. I would recommend this resort to those planning a short relaxed-trip. The uniqueness of this place is in its location and the fact that it is not one of the most advertised places in kerala. One can reach this resort only by a boat, which was a new experience for us. We stayed here for two nights in newly constructed cottages. The cottages...

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
We went to Estuary Island for our honeymoon in March 2007. It was the last stop of our trip and the experience was 'FANTASTIC'. The resort is not accessible by road and we were taken by a motor boat and it was a 10-15 min ride. The beautiful surroundings that we saw during our boat ride were just a glimpse of what was coming. At Estuary we really experienced what one sees in a dream honeymoon....

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
The 'Wow experience' for us, we were the lone honey mooners there, and the whole experience was 'the best'. The ambience of resort, staff and the hospitality made the stay as beautiful as kerala. On must visit Kanyakumari by road, its just 81 km from Poovar....

Hotel Review of Estuary Island
Nice, resort with peace and calm. Good location, the view from resort is good, but you cannot see the beach side; for that you have to travel by the boat. But nevertheless, a must see destination. One could enjoy both backwaters as well as sea side. Nature at its best....
