The Wayanad District in Kerala is not as well-known or visited as other hill stations like Munnar. It's beauty and quietness make it worth a visit. As in many parts of Kerala, roads are full of sharp curves and bends. Arrival to Pranavam makes the journey (in our case, from the coast at Kannur) worthwhile. We were warmly greeted by the delightful, interesting, gracious, down-to-earth hosts Ravi uncle and Rema aunty, served a superb meal (the pure-vegetarian dishes created by Aunty and the family cook are fantastic! ). We also got a glimpse of beautiful bi-level rooms with balconies overlooking hills, palm trees and tea plantations. Another highlight of the trip - the very knowledgeable and fun guide and assistant Anwar - who takes you through the plantation, sharing his vast knowledge about trees, flora and fauna.
