Priyadarshini Point is a popular vantage point as it is believed that this is the point from where Pachmarhi was discovered. In 1857, Captain Forsyth, who was a Bengal Lancer, first saw the beautiful saucer-shaped scenic spot from this point. After this, Pachmarhi was developed as a sanatorium and hill resort.
Originally, this point was called Forsyth Point; however, after the point was visited by Indira Gandhi in 1964, it was named as the Priyadarshini Point.
