Punnamada Resort, Alappuzha (Alleppey)
We stayed in Lake View Villa at Punnamada Resort to celebrate our vacation. The resort is eco friendly and surrounded with water and greenery where ever you see. Our Villa was very spacious and the view of the Vembanad Lake was awesome. The interiors were modern with classical touch. We loved just sitting in the veranda on the bamboo chairs and watch the houseboats and canoes passing through. There was no sound pollution as our room was on the lake front. We saw small streams passing through the resort and wooden bridges over it. We had our lunch in the Choola restaurant at the resort. They had ample varieties of vegetarian dishes for us. We loved the authentic Kerala Ela Sadhya they served on the Banana leaf for us and it had Avial, Kootu Curry, Kaalan, Olan, Thoran, Parippu, Sambar, Rasam, Pulissery, Pappad, Mango Pickle and Ladies finger Pachadi. Ada Payasam was the special dessert we enjoyed there. We were informed about the evening sunset cruise. They served us Banana Fritters and Tea from their Thattukada before the cruise. The tea was prepared in traditional style in a Samovar. We enjoyed the snacks in the lawn near the lake in front of the restaurant. The evening cruise was arranged on a shikara. We saw the SAI sports centre, Nehru trophy finishing point and the staff explained the things to us. Next morning we took part in the yoga session which was lead by a trained master. It was complimentary with our stay. Overall our stay went very nicely. The staff were very helpful. We wanna go and stay at Punnmada Resort in coming holidays too.
We decided to package a surprise for 60th birthday of my father in law by sending him to serene Kerala. But little he knew that his daughter and son with their spouses would land him a surprise visit to alleppey which was there 3rd holiday spot after munnar and kochi. But when we entered punnamada we were all taken aback by its sheer grandeur by the first look itself. We had a tensed journey as kerala was stricken by the Nationwide strike called bu National Unions and some parts of kerala being communist had made things tough for the taxi clan. But it all unfolded into a beautiful welcome at the punnamada hospitable staff. Mind you due to strike most of the staff was absent but we were put to ease by a glass of cold mango juice while we checked in. We were booked in waterfront villa for the parents and 2 duplex villa 202 ans 203 for us. And they were simply majestic. A cozy living room having sofa set with all channel TV, AC and ethnic look door with window beside to check on the visitor like the old palatial doors. The next best area is the bathroom with open to sky space along with marble stone bathroom floor that seep thru the water you use during the shower. The bath accessories are of natural origin right from the bath big bucket and mug made of copper, and toiletries of natural extract. The partition too of coir to curtail the open space for privacy when needed. As u exit the bath u find a staircase that take you to ur bedroom. A wash basin is neatly provided in case you need a wash and dont want to go a level down to bath for it unlike all other hotels. Very thoughtful i must say. The bedroom is very spacious with huge center bed, with all modern. Amenitieis one can ask for and of course the huge window space as a villa balcony that provide pool. As well. As long shot at the Mighty Vembenad lake. The resort is just along this beautiful. Backwaters that captivates your imagination and leaves you spell bound. Right from the vegetation to the well cured plantations and the huge banyan that sports a. Hammock to the lazing chairs to view the lake along with your deep thoughts that would be relaxed soon. I loved the authentic kerala ayurvedic massage of one hour that was pure class rejuvenation of entire self. It was one of my best holidays
Last month was my father's birthday and we planned to celebrate his birthday at Punnamada resort. We booked resort for Heritage Garden Villa. We were received with Jasmine garlands. Special mention to Mr. Varghese, the manager who was very cordial and warm receiving us. On arrival, it was informed that, we got a free upgrade to Lake View Villa .That was just awesome ! We got rooms 111 & 222. To speak of the rooms, Room 111 was really good especially it had a big bathroom. Even 222 was good, but bathroom was small. The free WiFi had good speed as well. To speak of the property, it is well maintained. The facilities are good, Swimming pool is clean. They have got a lot of indoor activities and they got cycles as well. Cannot miss to mention the in-house staffs service. They were very warm and friendly. We only asked them to arrange a birthday cake to cut during dinner. They just turned it to a party. Special mention to the senior staff Jalajamma, who took utmost care that we had a very good time at resort. Of course, there were few turn off like, we dint receive the welcome drink, but it could be because we checked in late like 4PM. In room 222, water was dripping from a/c. The bed had creaking noise. But I think, everything can be excused as the staffs were very prompt addressing our issues. The stay was an awesome experience. The resort is situated away from the crowd of tourist. The place is very calm and quiet. The view of rising sun from the lake villa was priceless. The chirping sounds of birds was soothing. It is a perfect weekend getaway place. I would recommend to all who would like to spend time with family and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul. Room Tip: Go for Room 222, Lake view villa. They are big and view of the lake is awesome.
We had a couple of room booked by our friend for his marriage at the resort. Extremely thankful to him as otherwise I would have never got a chance to experience the resort, it being so close to where I live and very expensive as well :P. We checked in late at night once all our friends arrived from the airport. The staff was very professional and prompt in their service, though we would not have cared for those as we were all bachelors set to enjoy our night. The lawns and the buildings were made in traditional Kerala style. The best part of the hotel is its proximity to the Vembanad lake, situated nearby the starting point, very scenic in itself. One can view the houseboats passing by, and the local small boats, which is a sight to enjoy at alleppey. They also had houseboats, and got one arranged for sightseeing for our friends as well at the last moment. Overall very helpful bunch of people.
All amenities were provided in the room. The best part of the hotel was food. I would recommend this hotel to upcoming travellers. I had visited this hotel with my family. Everything was an excellent in the hotel.
