We got in to the resort on new year's eve for two nights, looking to get away from the bustle and have a quiet and peaceful getaway. The resort per se is fairly clean, well spread out and imbibes their ethos of construction and living as close to nature in this day and age. The food was great 2 out of 3 times with a phenomenal spread. Mind you, 2 out of 3 is actually excellent considering the number of palettes the chefs have to cater to. Manage to hit the safari, the evening we got in and were quite lucky to spot a tiger, 2 leopards, gaurs, sambars and elephants. Ordinarily, I'd totally give this place at least 6 out of 7. However, the premises, services and amenities just don't justify the price tag. Compared to the three other very popular resorts, of which two are in a similar price range, this just doesn't cut it. However, the property is quite well maintained, the private jacuzzi is alright, the sit out facing the river is wonderful (be sure to request a room facing the river if you intend to visit). Also, a key point to the hotel, simply because you have a bar license, you cannot tell your guests that outside alcohol is prohibited. No law prohibits them from doing so. In essence, it's a wonderful property provided, you manage to get them to shave their pricing down a fair bit. Nonetheless, you'll have made a good choice if you decide to visit Red Earth.
We visited Red Earth, Kabini last year in February to celebrate our anniversary and what a lovely time we had. The drive from Bangalore is easy and beautiful. We reached around noon and our check-in was very smooth. The owner himself greeted us with a welcome drink and made us feel at home instantly. The cottage was wonderful with an open air jacuzzi. They do not have television or room service on purpose to make you explore the property more and not just spend the entire time in your cottage which I personally did not care for. I would have loved some room service. But it's just a minor flaw in an otherwise almost perfect set up. The food is above average and nothing that you'll go gaga over. The prime attraction of Kabini is the wild life safari which they arrange for you at a very reasonable cost and drop/pick up from the starting point. All in all, a great weekend getaway and totally worth every penny you spend.
The moment we entered this place thrilled us the most. I knew that we were up for a fun packed stay here. The first thing we did after checking in was to go Dhammankatte and take safari tickets. The safari here is not like other safari. It has an open bus and it the duration is for like 1. 5 hours. You better go there at 10AM and book is as soon as possible because the safari tickets run gets sold out very fast. You have chances of spotting a leopard a lot, so yeah be prepared. Coming back to the place, it is an awesome one. We were a group of 4 and we took two rooms. Amenities is great. The food was exceptional. I best things about this place is the pool. A good time in the pool would be in the evening or under the afternoon sun. Though I initially thought this place was expensive, while heading back home, I felt my money was worth. One thing which could improve a bit is the service. I would definitely go back to this place again.
Seeing is believing!!! And when the 17 min chat with the entrepreneurial family's better half was in progress, the painted pictures from her accounts of the property and the limitless zeal to preserve contact within a natural habitat preserving its originality started forming from the very structure of the open English-styled restaurant. The structure resplendence with creepers, plants galore has been preserved to give it an absolute earthy feeling to its benefactors - birds, etc. Its the detail that has been captured by way of preserving any chemical poisoning, the facility has been painted with vegetable paint. The bar, sitting atop a lazy water bank preserving the very backdrop of what a water mass looks like amid-st natural flora and fauna. The rooms have no intercom and internet - in a deliberate move to keep the travellers at peace while holidaying. It's a hit for bankers and people with high pressure jobs to take a weekend out, cut-off from known human touch to embrace nature at its purest forms. The Jacuzzi, the bath and wash, the foyer and the sit-out back complete the absolute lazy recuperation that stressful work inflicted souls, need. The pool, though not used much by the inhabitants, is fabulous for a swim. Was there to celebrate our 7th anniversary, and the staff, left no stone upturned. A separate sit out by the pool was organised with a private waiter, flowery embellishments and gastronomical delights from the worldly kitchen. Located on the opposite end of Nagarhole National Park, separated by the Kabini River, the coracle ride is exciting and fun to watch with the myriad coloured birds and fauna. The innovative ideas are both simple, yet groundbreaking e. G. The earth dumped in a heap across the restaurant for the swimming pool is being used as a natural stage for performances from the adjoining tribes or guests. The adjoining tribes have been absorbed into the workforce, etc. Can go on, but time is a luxury in my profession, hence, can say satisfying, satiating, lazy, pampered experience where you get to learn a bit about nature and catch glimpses of them, its the place to be. Almost like Heaven on Earth!!!
Its an excellent place, 5 hours drive from Bangalore, roads are good except the last 5kms. Its located at the bank of river and view is seen from most cottages (Although it would be better in post monsoon months). Everything there is made and maintained keeping environment in mind which makes this place a fantastic place to relax. Cottages, walkways, trees, flowers and birds. This place has more birds than a bird century and one would hear chirping of the birds throughout the day, you can spot a variety of birds. Even in dining area birds keep hopping here and there. We went to riverside for sunrise and just around the sun rise time there were hundreds of birds randomly flying close to ground, it was a bird riot, an unforgettable experience. Good food, good cottages with a sit-out area and open air Jacuzzi. We could use sit out area only in mornings as it was very warm in afternoon and in evening there were many insects outside, may be having an additional net door covering it would be helpful. We couldn't use Jacuzzi also as after filling water when I turned it on, along with water, jets gushed out hundreds of ants. The best part of the place is staff, the hospitality of every person you meet and talk elevates the entire experience. Every single person I met tries very hard to make your stay comfortable and makes you feel more than welcome.
