Robber's Cave, located at a distance of 8 km from the city centre, is one of the most popular picnic spots of the destination. Popularly known as Guchu Pani, this place is situated at a distance of 1 km from the village of Anarwala. The place is famous for a strange phenomenon, wherein a stream of water suddenly disappears from the sight and appears again after few metres.

According to a popular belief, it is said that robbers used to hide themselves from British here. Hence, the tourist attraction earned its name, the Robber's Cave.

"Natural cave made by river flow"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Oct 14, 2016
Robber's cave is about 14km from Dehradun main bus stand. You will get direct bus to vijepur. From there its 1km.
This is a cave made because of river flow. The water is cery clear and you can walk without any problem. Its about half an hour walk to reach the other end of the cave. In the middle you can see a small canteen as well

Awesome breathtaking open caves with crystal cold clear water flowing.. Good spot to hang out for a days picnic with family or friends.. Loved the tables placed on the flowing water and enjoying Maggi and momos.. While enjoying the beautiful nature.. I felt there is nothing worth while seeing in Doon till I saw this place.. Visit to this place surely recommend..

"Very offbeat location"

  • 4.0/7

The first look of Robbers Cave will astonish you if you haven't heard of the place before. It is a very deep cave with water running through it. It is a delight walking in that water and exploring the hidden waterfalls within this cave. Try to wear shorts or capris when you plan to visit this place.

"Robbers Cave or Choro ki gufa"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Aug 2, 2016
As the name suggests it happened to be a hide out place for thieves or robbers long back (as specified by our taxi driver) I was actually curious for the beauty and the same got unveiled after actually visiting this place. Was there for more than an hour and enjoyed the place thoroughly. Bring sandles or chapples as you would need these here as well as in Mussorie and Rishikesh and Haridwar. Nice rubber slippers will do. Floaters are also nice option. Food available and washroom facilities were available.

"Just fantastic place to visit"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jul 2, 2016
The caves are just fantastic. The more you go inside, the deeper in the caves that you get. It seems you are in some location of Pirates of the Caribbean. I think this is the best place to go in Dehradun, even better than the Kempty Falls. However take care to carry a poly bags for keeping your Mobile, purse, etc as otherwise they may get wet. You will also need to keep some slippers along with you.

"A nice place"

It is exciting place to visit. It is an open cave with running water upto one feet. It is 4 to 8 feet wide, height varies from 100 to 200 feet. It gives pleasure to walk in running water. Slippers of all sizes are available to walk in water. Rent is only 10 per pair. They keep your shoes and sandals safely. Inside the cave at a depth of about 300 meter is a waterfall. Here one can climb the rocks also.

"Robber's Cave : Into the nature"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted May 14, 2016
Robber's cave is a must visit place.

Getting there from Dehradun bus stand is easy, by taking share auto to garhi cantt(Rs10), from garhi cantt you will get direct bus to robber's cave(Rs10). You have to go to garhi cantt to get transport to Cave at cheap rate.

You have to walk nearly 1km to reach cave from main road, if you don't have vehicle. After reaching there you can get slippers for rent of Rs 10, since water inside can wet your shoes. Free toilet facilities are there. There is entry fee of Rs 25 and locker facility of Rs 30. Better to take food from outside robbers cave area as it is expensive nearby. Better take food from where you get down from bus to reach cave. You can get bread-omlet, paratha, chai, maggi etc.
