The Rohtang mountain pass located on the eastern end of the Pir Panjal mountain range of the Himalayas is the connecting pass to Kullu Valley, about 51 kilometres from Manali.
The incredible landscape of the surrounding region includes the emerging Beas River on the south of the pass, flowing up from underground and southward. In addition, on the northern side the Chandra River, is a source stream of the Chenab River, flowing westward.
This pass has served as an ancient trade route for travellers in transit between both sides of the Pir Panjal mountain range. It also forms a part of the National Highway 21 (NH 21)...
