Rose Garden covers around 10 acres of land, near the Charring Cross at Vijayanagaram. This garden comprises terraces with pergolas, rose tunnels and bowers with rose creepers. There are around 3600 varieties of roses in this garden.

Tourists can visit this garden for seeing Miniature roses, Hybrid Tea roses, Ramblers and Floribunda. Roses of unusual colours, including green and black, can also be seen in this garden. Moreover, the perfect location of Nila Maadam allows visitors to clearly view the entire Rose Garden.

Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department has maintained this garden over the years. In 2006, this garden was recognised as the ‘Garden of Excellence’ by the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS).

There were wide variety of roses at the rose garden, it was really good.
The garden is spread across wide area, with lot of flowers and of them are in good condition.
Also there is a small flower shop, were one can buy small flower saplings for just Rs. 15 - Rs. 30
Place was well maintained.
There was no time restriction on the stay at the garden.

"Best place to see if you low rose species"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Nov 6, 2016
This is a must visit place, if you love flowers, a large area to walk and watch beautiful rose flowers. Truly to the statement, India's largest rose garden. IT carries thousand over varieties of flowers.
Watch out : its not necessary the names below the rose plant is the species name, it can also be the name of the person who donate the plant.
Surprisingly being in the world of rose, there was no smell of rose, because of the medicine they spray over the plants to keep it fresh and last long( this is the sad part).
A good place for kids to spend some quality time.

"Nothing much to do here, waste of time"

  • 4.0/7

I am not impressed with this Rose Garden. Garden is not well-maintained. Looks barren. Many types of roses you can find. But most of them have dried out. Better take a short look and come back if you don't have much time.

"Great place to spend a lots of time"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Mar 22, 2016
This place was awesome with great collection of Roses. One can spend almost half a day if they are good lovers for Roses. We have spent almost three hours in this Rose Garden during day time. The situation was sporadic. There was a cool breeze of weather, green grass land across the view of eye, in between beautiful blossoming Roses with rich essence of their lives in it. It was worth taking time for this place.
