Hotel has little in common to another hotel.

5.3/7
Posted 29 Aug, 2013

After 5 days of hectic job, you desperately wish to run away to a place far away from the hassle of the city. And that's where Kasuali, comes into the picture. We planned our visit in advance, and after going through reviews from different platforms, we zeroed down to Hotel Ros Common. A Michael Government undertaking, this hotel has little in common to another hotel. For you feel at ease, the moment you enter the premises. The slowness has its own charm, as this is the exact reason for which one has visited this place. You will quickly be given room keys and smiling room boy will escort you there. There is nothing fancy about the hotel. But, whatever is there, in terms of rooms, food, other facilities, all are in place to make your stay comfortable. Room rates are moderate. Food is tasty but overpriced. And the only thing which may bother during your stay might be monkeys, who can trouble you, if you wish to order your lunch sitting in a small well maintained open garden. Kasauli, does not offer much to do in terms of activities but you feel at peace during your walk down Mall road, well maintained nature spots . . Overall, if being close to nature, having a peaceful quite stay is your agenda, then Kausali and Ros Common will exactly offer you same.

Nicely located with calm surroundings; recommended

5.2/7
Posted 23 Mar, 2015

We were 3 friends who wanted to move out of our busy schedule and relax at a calm location. After initial research we zeroed in for Kasauli as we could easily drive and come back in 3 days. The trip served its purpose and all 3 of us really enjoyed the trip which included stay at Ross Common and local sight seeing at Kasauli. Ross Common was suggested by common friends and it lived up to all its expectations as described Ross Common is nicely located which gives a good view of mountains, calm surroundings and also it has a large garden in which you can enjoy with your family and friends. We had booked both Deluxe and Suite rooms in which we stayed one day each. I would say the suite room was really worth each penny spent in terms of interiors, view and space. Spending time at garden during evening supper and dinner is very relaxing Hotel is maintained and has warm, courteous staff. Food was okay as we ordered dinner only once and rest of the occasions we had food outside. Also located near to Monkey point and local market, where you can reach both by walking and driving We would advise advance online booking rather than turning up at the hotel to do spot booking as we saw many returning back due to full occupancy. This hotel remains booked mostly so online booking is definitely recommended. We checked at other hotels for food and we found that those were very expensive and not up to mark if compared with Ross common We would definitely recommend Ross Common to all those planning for stay at Kasauli.

Ross Common is perhaps the best place but costly

4.9/7
Posted 3 Jan, 2014

Ross Common is perhaps the best place that one can find in Kasauli, given that it is an Army controlled area and the hotels around are few and far between. We found this property much more spacious than the others and it has its own car park, which was an added advantage. The rooms are spacious and the place probably counts as a heritage property, so don't go expecting the latest of construction and furnishings. That's not to say that there is anything short on amenities. Food is very good and even though the chefs keep varying, I'd probably give it a 3. 5-4/5 on the food. The place is very serene and the rooms at the back have a nice view of the adjacent greenery in the valley. Beware of the monkeys though, which do keep coming in from time to time. Try to go during the winter months, as you'd be able to enjoy the outdoor restaurant and garden. Kasauli doesn't have too many tourist attractions, but everything is a walking distance from Ross Common (the church, the small mall road, sunset point etc. ). Very decent place and good value for money. Try and make the bookings online much in advance as the place gets booked quite early. Have been there a couple of times and will definitely want to go again.

Brilliant location but slow service by staff

5.0/7
Posted 29 May, 2015

The location of this hotel is very good. Overlooking the valley, tucked in a corner away from the maddening crowd, with a nice cosy garden in the front and ample parking space for large vehicles too, clearly the property has a lot to offer. However, being operated by the government, it has not been maintained as well as it could be. The restaurant bears a dull look, the crockery is old, the staff though well meaning and helpful are not professionals as per today's standards, not to mention understaffed The food takes long to arrive, however once it does, it is well worth the wait. Fresh vegetables cooked in a homely style. Delicious is the word. Though the prices ensure that you pay for pleasure. Being charged even for vinegar onion or green salad is preposterous, surprising they didn't charge for the regular water. But all in all, it is a nice place to go and spend the afternoon.

A peaceful place to relax yourself

6.7/7
Posted 18 Jul, 2015

I have stayed here twice now. On both the events, it was in the annexe range. Those are 2 room sets and around 200 meters far from the principle lodging, that makes it significantly all the more energizing. The rooms are essential, spotless and decent. The wash rooms are unadulterated. In the event that you don't expect top class extravagance, then this spot is for you. It's not extravagant also henceforth justified, despite all the trouble. Verify you arrange enough nourishment on the off chance that you stay in the annexe rooms since it sets aside quite a while for them to convey sustenance there. The spot is found far from the hustle clamour of the town and gives an exceptionally unwinding environment. The nourishment served is delectable and the beautiful magnificence raises the entire experience.

It was really a beautiful stay in Kasauli. We loved the atmosphere here. Nice location and this place was very much secluded and promises to give peaceful holidays experience. Nice food, good staff, and budget friendly tariff. Room with good view was additional advantage. Its recommended for travellers.

I stayed in Ross Common during 10th and 11th of October 2015, I was expecting wonderful services as affiliated to HP Govt but I was in disappointed side. Kasauli is a good place to stay, location of hotel is really outstanding but conditions of room, TV and service are poor. Restaurant is just okay. It's too expensive than Manali & Shimla A few examples of services-. 1. No pick up or drop to bus station/taxi stand. 2. I didn't carry printout of booking as in digital age, receptionist told me to pay 10/- Rs for printout . 3. 2 times mistake by restaurant service, ordered 'x' and served 'y' . 4. Atmosphere at reception is like I'm lucky to get this hotel . If you are middle class or just middle class, this is not for you, waste of money and time with them.

Nice heritage property!

5.4/7

Stayed in this property last year. Centrally located, has a huge rooms. Being a heritage property it lacks modern amenities but gives you a very nostalgic feeling. Rooms are otherwise neat and clean and so is the bathroom. Food quality, quantity and taste is good but you will have to order in advance. I would surely recommend fellow travellers to consider this property while opting for a hotel in Kasauli.

Peacful Resort... Nice place to go with Family

5.4/7
Posted 3 Oct, 2013

We planned an office trip for 2 days. We were around 15-16 odd people. The hotel is divided in two parts . The one up hill had a beautiful lawn and nice garden. However, my friends who were staying in the rooms downhill had to come uphill every time they needed to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was no facility which could serve the people breakfast downhill. It was very tiring for people as there was no shortcut to the uphill hotel area, so everyone had to take the usual longer route. If you have a car, its convenient, but if you are walking up and down it can be a bit exhaustive. All in all, its a nice a decent place to stay, not very expensive as it is under Michael Tourism.

The Ros Common enjoys a good location. Its front lawns give panoramic views of the snow capped distant Himalayas in the horizon on a clear day. It is an old colonial building, but there are others more quaint close by such as the Grande Maurice. Pricing wise, the rooms and food cost more at the Ros Common than in other HPTDC run hotels - without offering anything better or extra. The hotel is quiet, being about 1/2km from the Kasauli market area. It is good for a short relaxing break especially for those who live in Chandigarh. The staff were courteous and polite. We chose this hotel just as a night halt to break our long drive back to Delhi from Narkanda. I do not think I would stay here or even visit Kasauli again.

We have been regulars to this hotel. It has not changed over the years...only change being new TV and may be a fan. The best is its location far away from the market bustle but yet near to the mall.....the surroundings are great with big trees...a nice garden for children and to have food in front of the mountain landscape...the staff eventhough govt employees offer better service than many private ones...

Nice rooms, poor cab service

Kasauli is a small town far away from the hustle bustle of the busy world, and staying at ROs Common makes it more beautiful. Beautiful trekking routes, climb up the monkey point and walking thru the clouds (literally) made it a wonderful trip.
