Sahastradhara, located at a distance of around 14 km from the heart of the city, is a popular tourist attraction of Dehradun. Literally meaning 'Thousands fold Spring', Sahastradhara is a beautiful spring, having a depth of around 9 m.

Owing to the presence of sulphur in the water of this spring, it is believed to have medicinal value. Besides medicinal merits, the spring is also known for its beautiful views. The beauty of this spring is further enhanced by the surrounding caves and Baldi River.

The water of this spring has lime, which contributes towards the formation of projecting ridge that eventually takes the shape of a cave. Due to its medicinal properties and beautiful views that can be enjoyed at this place, Sahastradhara is popular among a large number of tourists.

"Trip upriver to a romantic bridge"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
For swimming enthusiasts there is stretch of man made water barricades. One can track up river in the Rocky river stretch, and around the corner we come across a romantic bridge and further up there's clear river surrounded by hills. Also there are caves and tiny waterfalls to be explored.

Sahastradhara is a best place to relax in summer. It's a picnic spot which has a river made of hundreds of small water sources which allows to make a river with small check dams so that people can enjoy it.

"Surrounded by beautiful hills"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Sahastradhara is a beautiful place surrounded by beautiful hills on three sides and a brook flowing in between the hills. The place is a marvellous piece of nature and anyone who visit there would enjoy the scenery. Other than this there is a beautiful Park and a ropeway to reach out to the park. Summers are fun in Sahastradhara and I am sure that when you will reach back you are certainly going to cherish the moments you will spend in Sahastradhara.

I had a good swim there with my friends and enjoyed summer vacation. I want to go there with my girlfriend on coming summer season.

"A good place for lovers of water activities"

  • 4.0/7
  • Posted Oct 27, 2015
Sahastradhara is a place where (supposedly) a thousands streams of water join together and flow down on a terrace kind of path. So, it is a fun for lovers of water activities. One can take bath or relax in this pure flow of fresh water. The site is merely at 12 kilometers distance from city center and is commutable by public transport too.
