Sahastradhara, located at a distance of around 14 km from the heart of the city, is a popular tourist attraction of Dehradun. Literally meaning 'Thousands fold Spring', Sahastradhara is a beautiful spring, having a depth of around 9 m.

Owing to the presence of sulphur in the water of this spring, it is believed to have medicinal value. Besides medicinal merits, the spring is also known for its beautiful views. The beauty of this spring is further enhanced by the surrounding caves and Baldi River.

The water of this spring has lime, which contributes towards the formation of projecting ridge that eventually takes the shape of a cave. Due to its medicinal properties and beautiful views that can be enjoyed at this place, Sahastradhara is popular among a large number of tourists.

One of very rare tourist places which have been very well developed in the past. Offers very cool experience of having food with a mountain view and cloud cover. Very Energetic and Religious with Sai Baba Mandir.

I frequently visited Dehradun city in last two years and chose single spot to roam and it is a good experience. I only came down for a day every time in 15 days but it is worth watching.

"Loved the strong river gushing down huge boulders"

Loved the strong river gushing down huge boulders. It's a sulphur spring which has got medicinal qualities. The ambience is also good. Specially loved the small rivulet 2 km before Sahastradhara, where you can sit in ankle-deep cold water. Very refreshing experience.

"The different levels of water just take away your breath"

  • 7.00/7
  • Posted Sep 11, 2014
It is a very nice place to be. The different levels of water just take away your breath and you can also swim there. There is also the facility of lockers so, you need not to worry about your belongings. The water is very pure and very cold. Do not forget the coffee after the swim to avoid hypothermia.
