About Sangam

Triveni Sangam, located at a distance of 7 km from the Civil Lines is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the city. It is the confluence of the three rivers Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati.   It is also believed to be the same spot where the drops of holy nectar fell.

It is the holiest point in Allahabad and a dip in the Triveni is believed to free one, of all sins. Tourists visiting Sangam can hire boats to take a dip into this holy water. Boats are available at the ghat immediately to the east of the fort. This Sangam is extremely crowded during the Kumbha and Ardh Kumbha Melas.

Boats are available at INR30.05 per visitor. The official prices of the boat ranges from INR99.58 to INR119.77. However at peak season prices rises to INR 249.41.

"Religious confluence"

Sangam is a place, one has to be extra cautious. This place is full of panda and touts otherwise. Apart from religious importance one can also joy the boat rides in the river. This place offers a nice scenery and Panorama to capture.

There is historical confluence of three holy rivers, Ganga ,Yamuna and Sarasvati. You take holy bath over there at the Triveni sangam called Prayag as per Hindu faiths.

"No crowd nice to visit"

  • 5.00/7
  • Posted Nov 6, 2014
I reached here in the afternoon ,when there was no crowd. Three row of boats lying empty at the corner of the Yamuna river. During festival time ot Kumbh or Magh mela, you virtually rub your shoulders with the crown. View was very scenic with many birds flying over the boats. In front I could see Allahabad Fort, built by king Akbar.

"An excellent place, worth the visit"

Peoples should visit Sangam and can see Lord Hanuman in a sleeping position. If you visit Allahabad and don't see the Sangam, your visit isn't worth it.

"A religious place worth to visit once"

  • 7.00/7
  • Posted Aug 13, 2014
It is now not that Sangam as it was during 1947 to 1968, now the entire scenario is different, a lot of development are there but we should remember it is a pilgrimage place worth to visit once to see the natures wonder. You should not carry luggage, valuables and more money. Everywhere, you have to bargain. To enjoy boat trip, first settle for coast and avoid hiring of a boat alone. Carry dry eatables and water.

"Must visit the Sangam!"

  • 6.00/7
  • Posted May 10, 2014
It is basically the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna rivers and the mythological river of Saraswati. I would recommend that you take a boat to the confluence point. Just make sure you don't go in the middle of summer! Please avoid random sadhus and guides and don't dish out random cash in the name of God.
