The Sangameshwara Temple, situated at the confluence of Arkavathy and Cauvery rivers, is one of the famous temples, especially among the Datta devotees. The temple is dedicated to Lord Sangameshwara, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This form of Lord Shiva was worshipped by Parama Guru Mata Jaya Lakshmi, who took the initiative to protect the cultural heritage of the region.
In 2007, the renovation work of this ancient temple was undertaken by the Avadhoota Datta Peetham, where the walls were covered with granite stone slabs. For the security of the shrine, a compound wall with barbed wire fences was constructed.
