Staff behaviour was not very professional

5.3/7
Posted 6 Dec, 2014

Rooms were neat, tidy, well maintained and spacious. All basic amenities were available there but any scenic view was not available from the room window. I did not take my food inside the hotel. Location of the hotel was fine and I did not face any difficulty to find this hotel. Behaviour of the staff members was not very professional. Overall services were on time. They did not provide any activity in the hotel. This is a recommendable hotel for others travellers. I had gone there for official purpose in October month.

Staff and manager behaviour was very politely and friendly. Location of this hotel was convenient. Room was okay. Moneywise hotel is economical and I did pay Rs 2300 per day. Activities were missing there because it was not well spacious. I had own vehicle therefore I did not avail outing facility. I live in Indore. WiFi was not available there. Room was equipped with all basic amenities like TV, AC, bed, blanket, etc. Billing and booking process was on time .

Courteous staff and affordable rates

5.3/7
Posted 16 Mar, 2014

On November 3 night last year when we had just finished celebrating the festival of light, one of our kids suggested that we should extend the fun and go for a long drive! Not a bad idea. We sat together and after some deliberations finally marked Udaipur for our trip. The city of lakes is just 250 km from Ahmedabad and you will really enjoy the road journey via Himmatnagar and Dungarpur . . We decided to take break after every 100km. So after two breaks, we were about to reach Udaipur in the afternoon and our hunt for a good hotel started. Just 10km before Udaipur, we spotted a grand Jain temple and a Dharmshala. Rooms were available at cheap rate. Even foods were being provided at unbelievable rates. Unfortunately, that was meant only for Jains! Hotel is not a problem in Udaipur, finding a good one is. Even before you reach City Palace - the centre of all tourist spots in the White City - you would find hotels dotted along the highway. Some of them already booked, some totally empty because of exorbitant rates. We decided to take a hotel near City Palace as it would save travel time to different tourist attractions. Our first stop was Shambhu Vilas Hotel. Though not grand from outside, courteous staff and affordable rates (We paid Rs 1, 300 for a throbbed reconditioned room with misfitted toilet) won our hearts We took a walk to City Palace in the evening. Watched Dharohar programme held from 7pm to 8pm at Bagore-ki-Haveli. Wonderful event which encapsulates the traditions and dance forms of Rajasthan. Tickets are cheap - only Rs 60/adult. After taking dinner at Hotel Meera near Delhi Darwaja (Rs 120/ thali) we paid Rs 50 to autowalla and returned to Hotel Shambhu Vilas. The cook at Shambhu Vilas was on leave so we had to dine outside. Though the room was elegant, sofa well placed, excellent wardrobe, working AC and intercom and courteous staff, the only thing I can complain of is that the regulator of the fan was not there and we had to call hotel boy to adjust the fan speed. Next morning, we went for a boat ride in Pichola Lake and camel ride and then went inside the City Palace. Here a piece of advice. Don't go inside the palace unless you are really interested in knowing the history of Rajasthan, exploits of the rajas, their ancestry etc. Etc. After buying tickets for entry and for your camera, once you go inside, you cannot abandon your plan and will have to see everything in overcrowded rooms. You will feel relieved once you see the exit gate after 3 hours of tortuous time Once out of City Palace, go straight to Shilpgram. Shilpgram festival, organized every year from December 21 to December 31, draws huge crowd. Every evening, cultural events are held there where folk artists from all over India perform. You can buy handicraft and other items and take snaps of houses of almost all communities of India which are permanently build there. If adventure is part of your plan, don't miss Sajjangarh. The Monsoon Palace is a hilltop palatial residence. Maharana Sajjan Singh (1874-1884) of the Mewar Dynasty built Sajjangarh Fort in 1884. It offers a panoramic view of the city's lakes, palaces and surrounding countryside. The palace provides a beautiful view of the sunset At the time of check out, we found our car shining in the morning rays, thanks to a hotel staff. Of course, we paid for the service!
