Shamirpet

A short drive out of Secunderabad brings you to the pristine lake of Shamirpet. The spot is popular with picnickers who come here for its serenity and for the Deer Park adjoining it. Hear the joyous laughter of little children as they rejoice at the sight of flocks of deer being fed by the Deer Park staff.

Weekends and holidays present a contrasting scene as groups of families or friends converge on this popular picnic spot to unwind and have a good time. Visitors generally carry their picnic hampers since there is no cafeteria available close by. The adventurous prefer to do their cooking amongst the greenery and rocks.

The Lake has a small dam with a few flood gates.The Kattamaisamma temple is situated at the beginning of the Bund. You will often see motorists halting and offering prayers to the diety who is said to protect travellers who pass over the bridge. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism board runs a small resort with quaint little cottages. The resort runs the only restaurant in the area.
