Shimoga food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Food is typical South Indian. Please ask the local rikshaw drivers for good places to eat. They will guide. Attractions ofcourse is Asia's highest water falls- Jog Falls - a must see. There are various points from where you can view the falls in different angles. Other attractions include 2 ancient temples - Ikkeri & Keladi, which can be covered after an early visit to Jog Falls. Also visit Koodli temple, where rivers Tunga & Bhadra merge. A must watch. If time permits, make a trip to Sikandur. The journey starts with a Bus ride, follwed by jhankar to cut across the river Sharavathi (jhankar=a huge carrier that carries vehicles and people) and continue by bus again. Also available are bird sanctuaries, trekking spots, dam etc., which can be completed if time permits.
