LANSDAWNE : Truly natural and tranquil mountainous place with a very beautiful landscapes and serene place at Uttrakhand Mountains. It is nearest to Delhi from 7-8 hours smooth journey at Pauri Garhwal. , Uttrakhand. Since British era it is a cantonment area developed by British Government thence it is called British Garhwal. Before entering to this beautiful cantonment area, also a small managed town, you will really like to spend some days there to regain the nature power. The beautiful landscapes inspires the artists to originate paintings. Lovely green spine woods/trees and the mountains around gives you a feeling as you have reached to the top of the world, Famous Tiffin top picnic point is to see the Himalaya mountains ranges in Lansdawne . Near this point is a Church, in a wretched and ruin but beautiful place, I really loved to go that place. Then, there are number of resorts in between the jungle from the town area where one can stay and refurbish their soul and body. There are hotels provides you all indian and fresh food but don’t expect lavish and continental food available at 24 hrs because it is far from city and not much developed compared to Kullu and Manali, but wherever you will get, will be fresh. The climate changes when it is little heat and then rain, which turns the place more beautiful, in the summer one can experience the coldness of this area and beauty when you see clouds are near you. Overall, the month of May and June is good to enjoy the climate while October to November is also nice time to enjoy the Lansdawne. Near this area are Shivas’Tarkeshwar temple which tourist must see, it has its own value and natural beauty. Tourist can go and learn the culture of that area. During summers hotels got booked so before going prior booking of hotel and resorts should be suggested.
it was good but not well lansdowne is very very good place but hotels service is not very good thanks PRABHAV KUMAR..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I stayed here for a night for a weekend trip to lansdowne. It is located few kms ahead of the Jungle Resort. I somehow found this place to be better than Jugle Resort as this was much deeper into the valley deep inside the greenery. There is not much to do in Lansdowne so a night stay in this place can actully take you by surprise. Staying far away from the city and people would be a different experience al together. I plan to go again with family in future sometime. We reached in the evening and the hotel staff was courtious enough to offer food at that time and also arranged bone fire for just two of us !! :) The staff is humble and prompt though they dont have intercom so you may have to go to their reception to order but its not far from rooms and they are always present here and there. Since there is lack of sunlight in this place hence expect a bit of dampness in the rooms but the stay was ok. charges are nominal. This place is located quite far from the lansdowne deep inside the valley so the there is no tarmac laid road to reach here. It is quite a lot of offride you may have to do to reach this place but to me that was the fun. Big and small cars all can reach easily but yes the road is BAD. There is a water fall nearby which can be reached by trekking. The sunset from this property is awesom dont miss it. they can even arrange bonefire in the jugle trek to this waterfall but beware of wild animals and do carry torch to come back safely at night. phone signals will work.
Excellent location. Gift wrap yourself a couple of days to revive yourself from the mundane in and out. Surely worked for me! Top hospitality and service by the lads there, don't expect a lavish stay. There is a certain charm to this place, but off from the mainland this will surely get you into the best of moods.
I have visited almost all the Hill stations of India and lived in many hotels but Shantiraj was such a amazing one which I can't forget throughout my life. Especially the behaviour of the hotel people, they were very friendly and co-operative. Their kitchen were neat and clean and the food was delicious. The natural beauty from the resort was truly amazing. There is a swing, badminton court, burnfire, rope climbing and many other facilities which I also liked. I will plan to visit there again very soon as I am about to married and I have selected Shantiraj for my honeymoon destination. Thanks and regards, Manojeet kumar Singh
your hotel very marvellous enjoyable& the sight view very very beautiful.PEACE is available in your santi raj hotel. It is situated in the valley of peace. urs service is excellent ,all staff are very careing as well as ur owner also.
Its a excellent hotel to stay. People there are very good. Food and facilities are excellent. Perfect for family with kids. You can demand anything and they are happy to serve you. If you need good sevice then this one is for you. We had a very relaxing stay there.
I had visited Shantiraj with my husband in April 2011. We wanted somehing that is silent and beautiful. Trust me, it was one the best places we could have thought of for relaxation. We stayed there for an abnormally long 8 days but we were just not over with the beauty of the surroundings. It is in the middle of the lush green Pine forest. It is some 4 kms down from Gandhi chowk and you got to have your own vehicle as the way is not that good in condition. However you could walk down if u lik trekking, it is completely walkable. The rooms are good and clean, the staff is extremely sweet, very friendly and Prompt. The linens that I am very particular about were changed evry second day and were clean and fresh. The food, OMG was awesome. It was very simple and home made kinds with no extra spices and oils. We did not even feel like trying a single meal outside the resort inspite of the fact that we had options aroud in the main market. You cannot expect a very fancy chinese, muglai or continental food, but yes delicious simple indian food. The owner is very sweet and helpful. He also took us on trekking to his own village 4 kms down the resort. They also have arrangements for night gettogethers around fire and trekking as I mentioned earlier. The days are bright and sunny but nights are pretty cool, do not forget to keep 1 or 2 woolens for dusks and dawns as it is cold and windy ouside. Ther is not much to do nearby but yes one of the best natural, environment friendly places to visit with just relaxation in mind. Not to forget the sunset veiw is beautiful from the resort.
We went to this place for Holi 2011. Although it was mid march, it wasnt too hot and the nights were pleasant. We spent the entire weekend there and everyone from the staff to the owner was so nice and helpful, we felt like we were at our own farm-house!
Place out of this world. It is a place out of this world. All the pain that you take to drive down here with your friends or family immediately vanishes in the healthy clean air with fresh pine smell that you always wanted to breathe in. We were shown nice cosy functional rooms with proper bath & toilets. It was partly made of wood & partly with cement. Though the hotel was not fully occupied, their service was fantastic. I remember how my daughter & wife were so much worried as I had lost my driving up in the dark but the hotel manager kept guiding us on phone and sent person to us to show the way to the hotel. And top of it made specially hot food of our choice and created bonfire for us to enjoy the natural setting of the resort. Worth every penny. Next day hotel guide took us trekking to virgin ups & downs of Lansdowne with lush green forest almost untouched by irresponsible tourists. In the garden of resort we joked, laughed, played games and enjoyed a lot. With their smiling services had a very good family holiday. Hardly 360 km from Delhi. Worth every penny & minute you spend.
Not faced any problem to reach the hotel. Staff member behavior was good. Hotel appearance was normal. Rooms were spacious, neat and clean. All basic amenities like AC, TV were available in the hotel and were in working condition. TV was not latest. Food quality and taste was excellent, different varieties were available in the hotel. Check-in and check-out was in time. Activities like swimming pool, Gym were not available in the hotel. Vehicle was arranged by own for Sightseeing. It was worth for the money. No suggestion for improvement of the hotel.
I've been to Lansdowne twice, in two completely different seasons and thus saw two completely different Lansdowne. Once during the winters of 2013 (December) and again during the monsoon of 2014 (October). During winters it's grey, chilly at night yet sunny during the days, confused between foggy and then clear sky. During monsoon it's lush green, mesmerizing, alive with wild flowers and fauna. Both time one thing was common, the serenity of the place and the presence of nature that you feel. Of all the places I have been, this is my favourite by far. Shanti Raj Hill Cave Resort is located in a secluded part of Lansdowne, far away from the noise of the small town, nearly 3 Km from Gandhi Park. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and comfortable. I stayed in Shanti Raj during both my visits to Lansdowne and loved it. The only thing that bothered me was the food price which was almost twice the price in the Gandhi Park area. The restaurant named 'Zaika' was the best with reasonable price and great taste. In Shanti Raj they charged Rs 100 extra for heating the food that we got from outside. The staff was nice and the service was good. The hotel also provides adventure sports and bonfire. If you are a nature loving person then you can roam around the hills, there's a waterfall near Shanti Raj which flows only during monsoon but beware the paths are narrow and slippery that time. Whole of the Lansdowne can/should be covered by foot, beside the famous locations you can checkout the small beautiful streets too. Always know where you are going and where you are presently as there are more than one way to everywhere because all the roads are interconnected so do ask the people (they are friendly) else you will keep crossing the same point again and again. There's a place called snow fall view point it is not as famous as the 'tip 'n top' but better, you can spend your evening there watching the Himalayas fading out from the dull orange sunlight. One most important thing, please don't litter the places you visit or the paths you travel, it is very disturbing to see chips packets, bottle of coke, etc lying in the midst of roads/destinations choking the beauty of the place, make a habit of carrying a bag and storing your garbage in it till you find a dust bin etc. At night expect to see the sky lightened up with stars and constellations. Lansdowne is where you connect with nature and yourself.
