Need to improve the service

Posted 14 Oct, 2016

I had visited this hotel with my family. Service was not good in the hotel. Parking facility was available at the hotel. The hotel building was old. Check-in and check-out was done on time. All amenities were provided in the room. Room was spacious with clean. I had only breakfast in the hotel. The activity was not arranged by the hotel. The food quality was good in the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel for other travellers.

Check out other reviews for Sherlock written by travellers like you or Read some tips on writing great reviews. The location and view point from the hotel are awesome. The design and arrangement look like an old British Maintenance is not good, but the location of hotel is good and food items are very expensive and road to hotel travellers have recently written reviews.

We were on a holiday with my wife and my little angel(daughter) to Ooty and Sherlock made our trip wonderful Hotel was neat and clean with a very nice dining area, the location of the hotel was awesome and my daughter enjoyed a lot in the garden and the lobby. Food was delicious and made our day delightful with breakfast, lunch and dinner and the staff was really nice and always at our service. I suggest travelers to take Sherlock on top priority if they are planning to visit Ooty as I do the same. I wish the best of luck to Sherlock family, Keep up the good work guys.

Sherlock is a small 9 room property at the top of a hill. It is amazingly beautiful, serene and calm, away from the Ooty crowds, and you can get to Charring Cross in 5-7 minutes drive (you will need your own vehicle/cab though). The place is luxuriously maintained, with all the details that usually accompany a 5 star luxury resort. The staff is amazingly courteous and helpful. Overall, a superb location, very good staff, very well maintained property and excellent food.

I was searching for a good, neat decent place to stay in ooty for couple of days with my family. Found this hotel, through their website and booked this property. Followed the map which they gave, its steep climb for half a km. But the moment our car stopped at the entrance it was a breathtaking experience and we fell in love with that place. Impeccably clean, nicely mowed lush lawn with lots of floras. We booked deluxe room, luckily the whole place was empty as it was off season, we upgraded to luxury room which has good view of the valley and the lawn. We reached after the lunch time, still they prepared hot snacks for us with lovely coffee and served it. We spend most of our time in hotel, relaxing and getting pampered by the staff. The best part is to have the coffee/tea in the lawn in the evenings, when the climate is at its best. The food was excellent and breakfast is even more yummy. Get good north indian and chinese food. Ofcourse, Idli in the breakfast is great. Fireplace is the great way to beat the chill. We went there with our 14 months old son and it was completely child friendly. The staff ever ready to help you in sterlizing the bottles or getting milk for the baby at any time. You can view the dodabetta peak - telescope tower from the lawn of the hotel. But certainly it is not walking distance, its quite a distance.

Went to Ooty on the toy train and it was a wonderful experience. However on getting down at the station we realised that commuting to and from the hotel will be a costly affair as all taxi/auto guys were asking money like anything. The place is not easily accessible and if you are not having your own vehicle, you\'ll face difficulty in going around. On entering the hotel we realised that we had made a good decision on chosing this place. The view from the hotel was really amzing and the hotel looked very clean and nicely maintained. The garden outside the hotel was very beautiful and you could simply spend all of your time sitting in the garden with the view down the mountain. Food was good and service was also very good. However in food they had limited options, possibly beacuse we were the only guests in the hotel at that time, it being the off-season. Still I expect them to offer atleast half of the items in their menu which was not the case. They used to arrange fire in the room(of which only 1 set of wood was complimentary and every time you wanted wood thereafter was chargeable), but apart from that there were no heaters for keeping the room warm. It can be slightly difficult to sleep if visiting in winters. Transportation was deifinitely a major issue as we were dependent on the hotel guy to arrange us for transportation which was pretty costly. Otherwise, the overall expereince was very good. We had a real good time there. However the hotel is recommended only if you have your own transportation.

The location itself took away my breath away

Posted 8 Jul, 2013

What a wonderful experience it was! Property:\"Sherlock\" as the name implies was on heritage hotel with Executive rooms, Deluxe rooms and few excellent luxury rooms facing the beautiful lawn. The location itself took away my breath. The main attraction was the eye catching lawn. where we can sit and relax from the hustle of the daily life. Room: Very clean, well maintained and with a stainless neat bathroom. Food: The quality of food served was so good. The complimentary breakfast menu changes daily and we can plan a heavy breakfast to have enough energy for our day outs. Staff: I have visited many places and stayed in many hotels but this was best. all the staff were very friendly with smiling face, always in attention and ready to help us. The manager Mr.shiva was very cordial and plans out a neat sightseeing trip, ever smiling and ready to help the other staffs All should be congratulated for their Excellent service and MindBlowing hospitality. They made our stay Joyfull, Enjoyable, and Memorable. Our trip will be always remembered and cherished Because of \'SHERLOCK\'.
