Shillong food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Besides site seeing in Shillong town go for daily excursions by taxi to well known places like Cherapunji,Mawsinram,Northiang, Mynenglong.According to Shillong tourism there are 5-8 sites in each place, to be visited within stipulated 6-8hours by taxi, and price is prefixed.Check with the tourism office or the same list ideally should be present with each tour taxi.Otherwise taxi-drivers can claim more money or even less but they will not show all sites.Luckily with Pradip-da we could visit each place for all the day beyond the stipulated time-bound & even experienced the drive through himalayan deep forest amidst rain.....amazing thrill.

Hotel Review of Polo Towers, Hotel
Comments: Shillong itself is very good place, but this hotel left me bewildered that why on this earth i spent nearly Rs 4000 ( 2650+ 600 for extra bed+ taxes) for a 'super deluxe room'( as they say it ) for 3 people (with extra bed). I think i was better off if i would have slept in the car.
The room was so shoddy that i am sure no one can give it a 4 star rating after seeing it , it was so cramped even without extra bed, the interiors are green ( give a feeling of living in hospital). The carpet was very old, the heater was gathering dust, the television reception was unwatchable.
The bathroom was smelly , ultra cramped for space, it was of the type that you would want to come out of it asap.
I would have not complained if this room was for Rs 500-800, but 4000 bucks a night is something.
The hotel claims finest place in Shillong, Shillong's only 4 star are all farce. Its a big joke. Just by having free Wi-fi, or good restraunt ( yes i accept without any prejudice that Ginger, their restraunt is really good with excellent service) you cannot be a 4 star. The ROOM has to have some room and standard.

In short, TERRIBLE and sheer waste of money.

If you don't want to believe me then try the room number 217. I bet you won't differ with me. I challenge the hotel management to contradict any of the above coz its 100% truth otherwise i am too lazy to write the review on the day of checkout itself.
