This is my first review for shivsagar farm house & I am doing it because I had promised myself that I am going to write it Shivsagar farm house is located at bhillar village and it is on the Panchgani - Mahabaleshwar road. If you have your own vehicle I would suggest go for it. Mahabaleshwar is just 10 minutes drive from this farmhouse Hotel does provide a cab service with applicable charges I did my booking through Make My Trip and got an amazing discount I went in the month of April 2017, my room number was 103. Which is on the ground floor. The main factor/ attraction of this place is a strawberry garden and a plot on which they grow vegetables like cabbage, simla mirch, ginger, coriander, peanuts etc One can pluck and eat as many strawberries as they can. Strawberry lovers this is a heaven for you If you are not that crazy for strawberries and having a craze for cricket this would be again a 'Yes ' for you. In the hotel lawn- During IPL and world cup they play matches on a projector screen If you have kids then they too gonna enjoy. The lawn has a play area. Swimming pool would be a great idea and in future they might be coming up with this facility Farm house has enough place for parking and security camera is also placed at the entrance Now let's take a inside view Room was very spacious and having a dining table for two, chairs, a double bed and a sofa cum bed, mineral water bottle, wardrobe, TV, WiFi, center table, phone. Bed linens, towels are neat and clean and bathrooms are maintained and now has 24 hours running water supply, both hot and cold Food is nice and tasty, who prefers non spicy food should tell the maharaj - the cook who will make it as per your choice. Some food items are too much spicy. Breakfast is also nice, you can have upama, onion pakoda, bread butter, bread omelet & Poha Staff is very wellhead and will give you prompt service, if they fells to do so( which they won't) manager Amar and owner Sagar will make sure that your stay won't get spoiled Manager Amar is very cooperative and will provide you every possible details about the property and sight seeing as well I also had an opportunity to interact with the owner, (owner of Sagar) He was one of the farmer who got an award from sahyadri channel for his contribution towards farming. A humble start has led this hotel to a new highs and it is gaining popularity online too. The farm house is MMT assured Shivsagar farm house is my favorite budget stay hotel and I wish them all success and best of luck for their future endeavor Shivsagar farm house - You rocks. Keep it up Points- which I feel you as a traveller -should take note of. If you are coming from Mumbai you can feel CNG gas at Panvel and again when you reach Pune and getting out of Pune too. Please keep an eye on left side to notice CNG sign board. Go slow In Mahabaleshwar apart from all sight seeing also Try to visit -. Honey beekeeping institute. A government training institute where you can buy a various kind of high quality honey and also get to learn about the process. They will show you bee queen and workers. Get some knowledge for yourself and for kids too On Google it shows - Institute is permanently closed, its a wrong information. Please go and visit them in working hours Happy travelling. Happy stay
My wife and I stayed at this farm house for 2 nights in December 2014 (Room type: Deluxe Non AC Room). Our room was in the ground floor. Here is what we feel about this farm house: . . 1. Location: This farm house is around a kilometer away from the Panchgani Mahabaleshwar main road, close to the Mala's Fruit Products outlet. It is a silent location, where there are not many people and vehicles. There is a beautiful farm in front of and around the farm house where they mainly grow strawberries. They also grow carrots, cauliflower, spinach etc 2. Room: Spacious. However, the room was not very clean (bed sheet and pillows). There were a few mosquitoes in the room (in spite of using mosquito repellants). The lights were very dull, which totally spoiled the ambience. The TV picture quality was bad. Also, there were frequent power cuts. We did not feel like staying in the room due to poor light 3. Facilities: Hot water is available only after 7:30AM 4. Staff: Courteous, but slow to respond 5. Food: Below Average, not many varieties. Food is a bit expensive too. There is no complimentary breakfast. The food was very spicy and seemed to be unhygienic. There is no restaurant. We can either eat in the lawn or get the food delivered to our room. The tables in the lawn were not clean. There were quite a few mosquitoes in the lawn 6. Wifi: No WiFi 7. Parking and facilities for chauffeur: Good parking space and facilities for the chauffeur 8. Strawberries: They offered strawberries at Rs. 200 per kg. They said that the strawberries are organic, but we saw them spraying pesticides on the plants and strawberries 9. Payments: They do not accept cards for food bills, so ensure that you have sufficient cash.
Visited Mahabaleshwar along with my family (2 nights) in 1st week June 2014. Based on online reviews selected Shivsagar Farmhouse for my stay. Although hotel is located in Bhilar village (in between Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani), it is easily accessible if you are travelling in your own car. Inconvenient for travelers without vehicle . . First impression is disappointing. No way can you call this a farmhouse. A small cultivated plot in front of a three storey concrete building cannot convert a motel into a farmhouse. Then there is no view (as the valley view behind the motel is blocked by plantation in adjoining plots). Basically, nothing to see nearby and this can only be a place for intermediate rest and night stay. Rooms are spacious, neat and tidy. Electrical and plumbing is well maintained. So good night sleep is assured Since this is a family run business, service is average. (Professionalism is missing). Food is better than most places in Mahabaleshwar. At least the Maharashtrian cuisine was tasty, non-Maharashtrians may have a different view. Also food especially breakfast is a bit costly Suggestions to hotel management :. 1. If you insist on calling this place a farmhouse, keep some farm animals, it will be an added attraction to city born kids. 2. Purchase nearby plots and do some plantation (again a sort of study tour for kids). 3. One electric kettle with tea/sugar/milk sachets in each room, will enhance the service points, without much investment. 4. Since Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani / Pratapgarh is spread over a relatively large area, person on your counter should help travelers to plan the itinerary Since the intent of the management seems to be right, would certainly hope that this hotel (farmhouse) prospers.
I visited this hotel in the month of January 2017 with family for sightseeing trip. It was an advance booking through make my trip. The destination of the hotel was very good since everything was good here. The location of the hotel was very good as it was located conveniently and scenery was good. The appearance of the hotel was good as the interior and exterior was good. The receptionist was very good as the staff were quick and response was good. Room services were good but pretty delayed. The room was excellent as it was very clean with good facilities. Food at this hotel was average since the taste and quality was good. There was a WiFi and it was good in connection. There was travel desk and it was good. My suggestion is to improve with the room service. Overall experience was good at this hotel.
