Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is considered to be one of the ancient shrines in India and is situated in the Trikuta Hills. It is 61 km away from Jammu and is located inside a 100 ft long narrow cave at a height of 5,300 ft. The temple is believed to have been constructed by the Pandavas.
The idols of Lord Ganesha, Surya Dev and Lord Hanuman are also present at this site. Pilgrims can spot the natural pindies that represent Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Kali and Goddess Saraswati. Katra town, about 12 km away, is the base camp for trekking to this holy shrine.
