The temple is located in the midst of Solapur city surrounded by a lake. The lake is man made and highly clean. The temple is old around 100 years. Many people come to visit this place. This place is good for meditation and being in one's own self. One should certainly visit this place.

This is Shiv Temple. Well-maintained and very clean temple. The pond next to the temple has very clean water. In the temple complex there are several small temples which has Shiv Lingas. There is arrangement for keeping footwear at the entrance. But please put all dakshina into steel dakshina boxes at the temple.

"Renowned temple and celebrates fair"

  • 4.5/7
  • Posted Jul 29, 2015
Shri Siddheshwar is the Gramdaivat of Solapur city. The Siddheshwar temple was built by a yogi, Shri Siddharameshwar, who was a devotee of Sri Mallikarjuna of Srisailam. It is said that the shrine was built 600 to 700 years back by the Habbus who were disciples of saint Shri Siddharameshwar. A Siddheshwar Temple is located at the heart of the city. It is surrounded by a large water tank. It is believed that Sri Siddharameshwar dug the lake himself, when all the holy rivers came and asked for permission to reside in the lake, thus making it sacred. Shri Siddharameshwar himself attained Jeeva Samadhi in the temple complex itself, and his Samadhi itself draws a lot of crowds. Shri Siddheshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Siddheshwar, who has other forms as Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Siddharameshwar was a great contributor to Lingayatism religion and he is considered as one of the five prophets of Lingayat sect. Siddheshwar temple at Solapur is a renowned temple for followers of Lingayat sect. The fair is celebrated from 12th to 16th January. The principal day of the fair is 14th January.

"The temple surrounded by a lake"

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted Jun 24, 2015
We visited the place in the evening. We were received by a foul smell coming from the lake. The place is nice surrounded by a tall wall and various spots within were quite interesting with the history of the place. There is a souvenir shop with artifacts related to the temple deity and other ones too. The next morning we had a morning walk along the pathway winding around the fort across the lake from the temple. The fort we saw when it opened at 9:00 am after breakfast at our hotel restaurant.
