The Simri Mai Temple of Police Line is located in Avaas Nagar, close to the Muzaffarpur Engineering College. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati. According to legend, an old lady used to meditate here in the night for long hours and took samadhi on the 17th day of Navratra. Since then, this place has been given the Lokpeeth status and is popularly known as Simri Mai.
