Top Reviews of Sinclairs Ooty Hotel
Last December I went for a family trip in Ooty and stayed in Sinclairs Hotels and Resorts situated on the hill of Nilgiri enveloped with clouds and surrounded by forest is the other side. It is the best resort for honeymooners and families. The resort offers well spaces and organized rooms, suites and villas with brimful of amenities. One can expect delicious food at the multi-cuisine foods. It also offers chill out at the Spanish bar and coffee shop. There is an entertainment area with indoor badminton, board games, video games, kid's play zone, and library. It also has fitness centre with gym.
The hotel is located close to the Tea Factory at Ooty, which is about 3-4 km away from Charring Cross and other central areas. Getting to Doddabetta peak is very easy from this hotel. From the Tea Factory itself, the road is very narrow and not really in the best condition. Once you enter the hotel, their lawns are actually 3 levels lower from the lobby. The lawns are beautiful and huge. The restaurant is at the lobby level along with a balcony, and a souvenir shop. They have rooms that face their lawn, and rooms that face the backside of the hotel, which overlooks the road from the tea factory. Because of the wonderful weather, they don't have fans or air conditioners in the rooms. The room is decently spacious with all the amenities that you come to expect of a 3/4 star hotel. The only grouse I had was that the bathroom is unreasonably small. The shower cubicle is extremely small, and not very comfortable for a tall person. There is no tap in the shower cubicle, so you are forced to use only the shower. The other issue with the bathroom is that there is no exhaust fan, which is quite an issue when the bathroom and the commode are so close by, and the smell in the bathroom lingers since there is no ventilation, and no exhaust fan. Room service is pretty good though. Service is prompt, though quite expensive as compared to eating in the restaurant. That is something I suggest potential guests keep in mind. The food in the restaurant is pretty good. There is a buffet spread, but a-la carte options are restricted to what is available in the buffet. Breakfast buffet is pretty good and the spread was a pleasant surprise. The only improvement I would suggest is an increase in the choice of fresh juices. Overall, for the price they charged, I'd say this is a value for money place. Location is probably slightly inconvenient, and the bathrooms definitely need to be bigger.
We stayed for two nights. Located at a very convenient place. June month is good for visiting this place. Hotel is undoubtedly one of the best in Ooty. Nice and cosy rooms with sit outs. Good and big bathrooms. Staff were very good. To spend time you have TT, billiards in the hotel. Lounge was very good. Negative point is it's restaurant. The complimentary breakfast was not up to the standard. The restaurant was very highly priced.
When I visited at Ooty then I stayed in Sinclairs Hotel. I went there with my family in August month 2014 and it was a relaxation trip. Location of the hotel was excellent. Staff services were very good. Hotel was located convenient for me. I think that it was a five star hotel. Interior and exterior designing of the hotel was awesome. I booked my room in advance through telephone. Front office and staff was very good. Check-in and check-out process was not delayed. They were responding all our requests on time. Behaviour of the staff was helpful and cooperative. Rooms were well maintained, neat, clean and spacious. Many outside views were available from the room window and they were awesome. All basic amenities like TV, geyser, etc were available in the room. They provide complimentary breakfast. Food was delicious. They had indoor and outdoor activities. Ooty is a fantastic place as tourist destination.
We visited in Dec 2015. The hotel is well maintained and the gardens are beautiful. The location is a plus since it is not in the midst of the chaos of the town. It is a little higher up and you can get a very good view. The rooms were excellent, well-maintained and clean. Service was prompt and courteous. Reception was very helpful in booking local sightseeing trips. The food is very good - even something as simple as "khichdi" is delicious. It is advisable to have a single car booked for your entire trip - then you can go into the town at any time without having to call for transport. The toiletries provided are of very good quality. There are various indoor games like carom, chess, table tennis, badminton, etc. Aroma oil lamps burning in the corridors give a lovely fragrance. I really enjoyed my stay and would love to stay there again if I visit Ooty again.
