..And the Worst
A Journey of HARASSMENT is what we had to go through inspite of making FULL PAYMENT in 10 days advance.
We had booked 2 double bed rooms at sinclairs hotel, ooty for 3 nights 4 days package. Booking was done atleast 10 days before the arrival date. We had made the full payment since they insisted as it was peak season - Ooty flower show.
When we reached the hotel on the arrival date, Hotel guys told us that there was no booking made for us. We showed the the reciept and the confirmation letter and after several arguments they confessed that they had sold the package to someoneelse for a higher price and no rooms were available at the hotel for that day. Looks like they will sell ANYTHING for little extra money.
THey even refused to return the payment at ooty and asked us to collect it from the bangalore office as the booking were made at bangalore office. When we started insisting on the payment, now they starting playing games like there was not enough cash with them to return and they will give a cheque. We threatened them to involve cops in this and then finally they agreed to make the payment. Going through all this we had already wasted 5 hours and it was around 10:30 PM when we got the cash from them. They also offered alternate accomodation at some local apartments with some 20 flats where nobody lived except for 3 gatekeepers. The flats were not in a living condition with no room heaters, water supply or AC. We had booked deluxe rooms at sinclairs hotels and these flats were in pathetic conditions. We had to say no for this alternative arrangement and search for some resort/hotel for ourselves.
We found some resort and we had to pay extra to these guys for last minute bookings in peak season. I have filed a case against sinclairs hotels now in the consumer court.
Best Experience: Best experience - Read as \'best of the worst\' is The manager and chairman of the hotel was also in the same hotel that day and he did not even bother to apologize or make any alternative arrangements. atleast 4 families were sent away in front of us and they were not even returned their money, the hotel guys gave some lousy reasons and shooed them away.
Even the localites near the hotel seeing us stranded for 5 hours informed us that this hotel has the same scenario at their reception most of the times. General feedback from the localites/taxi guys are that even the worst of the worst professions (According to the civilized world) has some ethics and respect to their customers but this Hotel staff and their management lack it.
