About Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple

Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple lies close to the bus stand in Sulthan-Battery in Wayanad District. The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Ganesha. Idols of Sri Ayyappa, Sri Sivan, Sri Nagar and Goddess Saraswati are also enshrined in this temple. The temple organises an eight day long annual festival that features various cultural programs, such as the Chakyar Koothu and Ottanthullal.

The Kalamezhuthu Pattu is a local art form that is performed by the professional dancers on the third and the fourth day of this festival. The image of Lord Ganesha is taken out on the concluding day and a big procession led by elephants is also organised.
